I've recently been working with real-time geoJSON data at a rate of 50+ queries per second. SaaS solutions can be prohibitively expensive at this rate, thus, I created go-reverse-geo. Data is pulled from geonames.org and is stored in MongoDB (a requirement of my current project). It is very much a work-in-progress (I wrote it this morning). I made this as a pair programming exercise with o1-preview. o1 did most of the heavy lifting, through high level prompts, but eventually I needed to diverge from it to get to completion. Hi HN, I built a tool to create minimalistic vector maps online, and generate a URL with the entire dataset as query params. The URLs generated are off-putting, but in turn you get private shareable maps. The code for the website is also open source and lives at https://github.com/ironmaps/mapinurl/ . Hello HN, I made a website where you can find toilets nearby on a map. It has data for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I fetched the data from openstreetmap with overpass API, cleaned it up and stored it in a supabase DB. In case there was no address, i used nominatim API to geocode it. Feel free to ckeck it out.
