Hey - I've been playing with LLMs since GPT-2 and recently experimented with fully generative UIs where the HTML/Canvas are generated just-in-time. Every post on the feed( on slop/duck/storytime) you see is streamed and generated just-in-time with HTML and into a Canvas with Gemini 3 Flash. Comments and DMs are bidirectionally linked with a Cloudflare Workers Durable Object which is why they feel so fast. Every generated post is saved into a DO SQLite which is then served into the "Following" feed so it can be served quicker. This was inspired by Wikitok, a VSCode Extension I…

Hi all! I put together a website that summarizes youtube videos. Enter any YouTube URL, and it will give you an overall summary, individual chapter summaries, along with key video frames. Here are a few examples: https://www.videogist.co/videos/tips-for-technical-startup-f... https://www.videogist.co/videos/openai-devday-opening-keynot... https://www.videogist.co/videos/cbs-evening-news-full-episod... https://www.videogist.co/videos/the-best-easy-miso-salmon-re... I'd love to hear feedback - if it's useful (or…

I built Yourabbit.com — a site that curates hand-picked YouTube rabbit holes grouped by themes like quirky psychology, obscure tech, weird facts, and binge-worthy oddities. It’s not driven by the YouTube algorithm — every collection is themed and curated manually (for now), with a backend I’m automating to fetch and organize new rabbit holes daily. Built as a hybrid Astro + Next.js project, optimized for static generation and speed. I’m also pairing videos with custom summaries and commentary (using AI), and would love feedback from the HN crowd on: Content model (too wide? not specific…

Live demo here: http://fonctionlabs.com:8000 Similarly to aka_sh (guess we were working parallelly on similar topics), I created with my brother a chainlit-based webapp, which summarizes Youtube videos in order to gain time. It works as an RAG-based LLM, and is very light in the sense that it does not use RAG libraries like langchain or llamaindex. You can use it with your own OpenAI API key. It also supports local models like Mistral, or Llamma. It is ofc open-source, and you can deploy with Docker if you choose. Some of the next steps are: - using whisper to be able to compute a…

Hello HN! Between academics and everything else on my plate, I still find myself watching way too many YouTube videos. So I built `youtubegist` - just add `gist` after `youtube` in any video URL to get an instant summary. Before: https://youtube.com/watch?v= After: https://youtubegist.com/watch?v= I know there are other YouTube summarization tools, but they're either cluttered, paywalled, or don't format summaries the way I need them. So I made my own that's free, open source, and dead simple. One cool thing, if you install it as a PWA (on Android using Google…

Hello, HackerNews community! I'm thrilled to announce the release of QuickVid - An Open Sourced AI Video Summarization Tool. This tool empowers you to generate concise summaries of YouTube videos using the power of artificial intelligence. GitHub Repository: https://github.com/metaloozee/quickvid Demo: https://quickvid-alpha-69c4256152f9.herokuapp.com/ NOTE: The demo might only work properly if you provide a short video, providing a long video will take more time and eventually heroku will timeout the API requests. Thanks.
