Products that do what Kiln – a fast, native batch image processor does

I was tired of outdated UIs and performance of similar tools. Nor did I want to write ImageMagick scripts every time I needed to resize/convert/watermark a folder with a few thousand images. It's a native desktop app built with C++23, Skia for rendering, libvips for image processing and my own cross-platform UI toolkit - no Electron/Qt. It allows building reusable pipelines: resize, convert, compress, watermark, sharpen, blur, rotate, flip, rename, and metadata (EXIF/IPTC/XMP) editing, chained in any order and saved for reuse. Batches run in parallel. Everything is…

KiCad, a PCB EDA suite is now working in a browser, you can try it at the link, there's a demo project or you can bring your own. Firefox is best, Chrome is good, Safari is "working". We’re Emergence Engineering, a dev shop from Hungary, mostly working with rich text editors, CRDTs. PCBJam started as my (Viktor, CTO, ex-electrical engineer) hobby project but as time went on I put more and more energy into it, and a product started shaping up in my head, in the last few months we’ve started to focus on this project a bit more, and this is the first MVP~ish result. This project is a ton of…

Hey everybody! "Kiln" orchestrates Claude Code instances on your local machine using GitHub projects as its control panel. https://kiln.bot https://github.com/agentic-metallurgy/kiln If you're around Stage 6-7 on the Gas Town scale, you may have 3-15 terminal windows open. You're out of screen real estate and the markdown files are piling up. TUIs and specialized IDEs are meant to help, but they're more things to manage. Kiln simply polls GitHub projects. When you move issues from one column to another, Kiln invokes Claude Code CLI to run the corresponding…

Hi Indie Hackers We’re building Kinkora, a creative platform that brings multiple image and video AI models into one place for experimentation and creation. Like many builders, we found ourselves constantly switching tools just to test different models or creative directions. Each platform felt limited to a single workflow or use case. So we decided to build a space that’s more modular, exploratory, and creator-first. Kinkora focuses on: Supporting popular generative models Making experimentation fast and enjoyable Laying the foundation for a creative community, not just a generator Our…

Hello Hacker News photographers! Yes, this is essentially my take on photo colling and management, similar to the features that Lightroom and Darktable already have. Because I shoot in JPEG+RAW, my workflow looks like me going through my JPEG images and then eliminating the JPEGs I don't like afterwards in addition to their corresponding RAWs. At least on my old MacBook, the JPEGs were faster to load than the RAW photos (probably a combination of CR2, the file my EOS 40D, not having embedded JPEG previews and my buggy macOS version). Hologram would be my way of making this workflow easier to…

I got tired of repetitive editing tasks, so I built a tool that simplifies bulk edits using text prompts and AI workflows. Now I can quickly handle things like virtual staging, changing backgrounds, adding/removing objects, adjusting brightness and exposure, color corrections, boosting contrast and clarity, fixing distortions, batch color grading and much more! But most importantly, I can do this to all selected images, tens, hundreds or more. I'm particularly interested in feedback on the workflow and UI from photographers/editors who handle large volumes of images. I've increased…
