hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. I grew up in Germany in the early 2000s playing a browser game called Inselkampf. You built up an island, mined gold and stone, cut down trees for wood, raised armies, sent fleets across an ocean grid, joined alliances and got betrayed by them. Same genre as OGame or Travian. Hello HN, last week, I stumbled over an old project of mine called Click The Number. I built it about six years ago to compare my clicking and reaction speed with that of my friends. The idea is simple – just click on the numbers in orders as fast as possible. I couldn't resist and rebuilt a lot of parts again, making them a bit nicer.
