24 alternatives to Kosmos – Homework Help Chat
Hi all, We're committed to making it easier for students to get help with all school-related things (mostly homework). We launched a text-based tutoring service in January (called Humbot). We've learned some things since then: - Tutoring is not something students want; it's mostly something their parents want - Therefore, it's a shitty experience for students - The need for tutoring is a consequence of students falling behind in school (part of which is caused by not being able to do homework). We want to fix the cause, not the symptom. - We thought homework help is also tutoring (which it…

Hi everyone! I’m the founder of Explanations (https://explanations.app). I’m building a website where students can get college level math & physics help for 1/10th the cost of private tutoring. You’d type a question, and your teacher replies by drawing a Youtube/KhanAcademy-style video; and this happens asynchronously throughout the week. When I was studying at MIT, I often had to wait 40-60 minutes in line just to get 5 minutes of “help” from a TA - when I needed 1-2 hours. I understood that TAs can’t spend all their time helping me. That’s understandable. But what made…

Wondering▲345Hey HN! I’m excited to show you my app that lets you learn any topic in a structured, bite-sized way. Each lesson has an audio version, some visuals, and interactive quizzes. They’re personalized to your background and goals, and you can pick a concept inside a lesson and ask it to go deeper. When my co-founder was at NotebookLM, he realized the biggest bottlenecks in learning are that people don’t have time or feel like they’re not smart enough. We wanted to see if software can take the mental load of figuring out what resources to use and what order to learn them in, and make lessons easy…

Hey HN, I’m a dev and a dad to a 10-year-old. I built this because I caught my daughter using ChatGPT to do her history homework. She wasn't learning; she was just acting as a "middleware" between the AI and the paper. The Backstory: I realized the problem isn't the AI—it's the zero-friction answers. Most "AI for kids" apps are just "parrots"—they mimic intelligence by repeating patterns. What’s Different: Qurio is a "Bicycle" for the mind. It treats the child like a future "Architect" rather than a "Junior Executor." Technically, it wraps an LLM in a strict "Socratic Loop." It detects…
