24 alternatives to Lexie

Built this because kids 10-15 can't prompt AI effectively. They'd type "make quiz plz" and get confused when ChatGPT asks for context. Lexie takes 46 steps of AI prompting, context explanation, and output formatting and makes it one step: point camera, get quiz. The photo constraint isn't just better UX, it's the only way to get usable output from that age group. This demographic gets the worst deal in edtech. Too advanced for baby apps, too young for adult tools. They get gamification theater instead of real learning tools. I stripped all that out. Photo your geology notes, get instant…

Hey HN! I’m excited to show you my app that lets you learn any topic in a structured, bite-sized way. Each lesson has an audio version, some visuals, and interactive quizzes. They’re personalized to your background and goals, and you can pick a concept inside a lesson and ask it to go deeper. When my co-founder was at NotebookLM, he realized the biggest bottlenecks in learning are that people don’t have time or feel like they’re not smart enough. We wanted to see if software can take the mental load of figuring out what resources to use and what order to learn them in, and make lessons easy…

Hi, I'm a high school teacher from Australia and I've built what I'd like to think is a pretty nifty ChatGPT powered presentation tool for teachers. I'd love it if you could have a look at it and give me some of your feedback. I don't think there's much overlap with the HN crowd and school teachers, but I've been coming here for many years and thought I'd post here and see what you all think. Check it out if you have a minute and I'd be super happy to hear your feedback too. https://www.slidehero.ai/ You can jump in and have a play with the tool all you like ;) Cheers, Eli

I saw this app youlearn.ai on YC and thought of building it. They are claiming to have 1M+ users with just one feature which is to convert your learning material into summaries, quizzes etc. I gave this a shot and cloned almost most of the features in just 9+ hours of continous vibe coding (with 20% manual though). Now I'm selling this on mvp marketplace. Might probably open source it in future or give it free.

After countless hours of solo coding, designing, and iterating, I’m both excited and nervous to share my first-ever product: PrompTessor — now live. As someone who constantly experiments with AI tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney, I often found myself stuck in a loop of trial-and-error. The issue wasn’t always the AI — it was often the prompt itself. That observation became the starting point for PrompTessor. This tool doesn’t just optimize your prompt — it analyzes it. It gives you: - A prompt score - A breakdown of strengths and weaknesses - A fully optimized version of your prompt - And…

Hey HN, I’m a dev and a dad to a 10-year-old. I built this because I caught my daughter using ChatGPT to do her history homework. She wasn't learning; she was just acting as a "middleware" between the AI and the paper. The Backstory: I realized the problem isn't the AI—it's the zero-friction answers. Most "AI for kids" apps are just "parrots"—they mimic intelligence by repeating patterns. What’s Different: Qurio is a "Bicycle" for the mind. It treats the child like a future "Architect" rather than a "Junior Executor." Technically, it wraps an LLM in a strict "Socratic Loop." It detects…

I built Learn Leap because I found myself constantly asking ChatGPT questions while reading research papers. I wanted something that already understood what I was reading. With Learn Leap you can upload your own material and have an AI tutor teach directly from it. The tutor has full context on your material and can create quizzes, flashcards, and exams to test your understanding. It's still early and I'd love feedback from HN on the product and the learning experience. Cheers.

Hi HN! I have built an AI-based content creation tool called Content Explorer. Instead of writing to create the best content, it allows you to iteratively discover it by offering a bunch of operators that modify and enhance your initial input. The node-based interface allows you to easily visualize the result of your operations and compare and contrast different versions. I like the mental model of Large Language Models as word calculators. So I have built this word editor that works like an image editor since we can now process language just like we have been processing images. You can use…

Hi HN! I'm Amber (13) and my dad Raj, and we built Nityasha AI from Guna, India. After my dad's 12 years of failed startups (2012-2023), we created a personal AI assistant that handles email, coding help, research, and planning in one conversational interface. I started coding at 9 on a 4GB RAM laptop. We failed 8 times before this—coupon sites, freelancing platforms, consulting. Nityasha is different: it uses Thesys generative UI for visual charts, includes Study Mode with Socratic teaching, and integrates everything so you don't need 10 tabs open. 500+ active users now. We just launched…

Hi HN, I'm one of the makers of Keepmind — an AI tool that turns your learning materials into flashcards, quizzes, and summaries automatically. It's designed to help students, self-learners, and knowledge workers learn smarter and remember longer. What it does: Turn any text, notes, or web articles into smart flashcards Auto-generate quizzes and spaced-repetition schedules Share decks privately or publicly (with encryption + access control) Track review progress and weak spots We built Keepmind out of frustration with traditional tools like Anki or Quizlet, which are powerful but require a…

Hey HN! I built EZMind AI - an AI-powered study platform that helps students learn more efficiently. *The Problem:* Students spend hours reading textbooks and lecture notes, but retention is low. Traditional study methods (highlighting, re-reading) are passive and ineffective. *The Solution:* EZMind AI transforms any study material into: • Concise AI summaries • Auto-generated quizzes with instant feedback • Smart flashcards • Podcast-style audio (great for commuting) • Interactive AI tutor for Q&A • Automatic transcription of recorded lectures

Hello Hacker News, I've built a platform that lets anyone create their own voice-based AI tutor. To showcase what the platform can do, I've created a voice-based AI tutor for Stanford's famous CS229 Machine Learning course. I took the course myself and know how challenging it can be, so I built this to make it easier to follow and stick with. It's free for now (as long as budget lasts) -> https://vivaverbalis.com/ml The goal of my app is simple: Whether you're a student, teacher, or just curious, you can instantly spin up a conversational AI tutor, and share it, with whoever…

Hi HN, Last month, I have worked with my team here at Amy.app to make a stand-alone SAT Tutor. I'm pretty excited about this product, as it's our first attempt to make a stand-alone product targeted directly at students. So far all our products were targeted at teachers/schools/publishers. But we never found product-market fit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Our SAT-Math tutor is designed to find your knowledge gaps and gets you up-to-speed as fast as possible. We believe it offers a fresh approach on how online learning usually works. Please let me know what you think. The product has a 3 days…
