24 alternatives to Lil digi – play a platformer game as yourself
I've been monitoring some of the image generation progress for game sprites for a while and was really impressed by Gemini Flash. This demo lets you upload a picture and turns it into an animated pixel character (a lil digi gif that you can download). I chain together the pixel art frames and insert the player into a tricky platforming level. video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK7z-HltssE api usage: Unfortunately Gemini Flash 2.0 image Gen has really tight API limits that don't scale up for paid tiers -- if anyone on the team sees this and wants to help me out, my…
Lil digi converts a user's uploaded photo into an animated pixel character using AI image generation, then places that character into a platformer game level to play. The tool generates sprite frames, chains them… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

I tried to build AI game animation generator last year ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40395221), a lot of people were interested, but it failed, mainly because the technology was not good enough. 1 year passed, there were a lot of developments in video/image generation. I tried it again, I think it works super well now. Actually beyond my expectation. You can generate all kinds of game character animation sprites with only 1 image. 1, upload your image of your character 2, choose the action you want 3, generate! Support basic actions like Run, Jump, Punch and…

Gemini 2.5 Flash▲369I built a small project that integrates Gemini Flash Image but makes it more affordable to use compared to the official API. It allows you to generate high-quality images with the same model, and also provides simple editing features for refining results. The goal is to make experimenting with Google’s image model cheaper and more accessible for people who create a lot of images.

Hi HN, I'm excited to share a project I've built: PixelateImage.org. Instead of being a traditional image editor, this is an *AI-powered tool that generates pixel art directly from your text prompts.* If you've ever wanted to create unique pixel art characters, scenes, or assets for games, art projects, or just for fun, but perhaps lacked the specific artistic skills or time, this might be for you. My goal was to make generating retro-style or modern pixel art more accessible. You can type in a description (e.g., "a brave knight in a dark forest," "a futuristic cityscape at night," "a cute…

I recently launched a small project that turns your photos into pixel art portraits. You just upload a picture, pick a style (retro, anime, chibi, etc.), and it generates a pixel version of you in seconds. Unlike the usual one-click pixel filters, this one lets you customize details and add accessories so the result feels more like a proper avatar. It’s meant for people who want a fun profile picture for games, social media, or just something playful.

I tried to train text to video and image to video models to generate 2D game animations. I used public game animation data and 3D mixamo model rendered animations to train the animation generation models. I'm open sourcing the model, training data, training code and data generation code. More technical details can be found in my blog (https://www.gavinliblog.com/posts/godmodeanimation).
