Products that do what Limen – modern, composable auth for Go does
I built and released Limen v0.1.0: https://github.com/thecodearcher/limen Writeup/docs: https://limenauth.dev/blog/introducing-limen It’s inspired by better-auth’s plugin-first DX, but designed for idiomatic Go. The core handles sessions/cookies/security primitives, and auth methods are composed as plugins (credential auth, OAuth providers, and 2FA today). It exposes an http.Handler, so it works with plain net/http and frameworks like Gin/Echo/Chi/Fiber without framework lock-in. This is the first public release. I’d…

I have written a passwords/secrets manager for my personal needs. Maybe it solves some of your problems too. It is written in Go and is a self-contained executable for a small web-app: https://github.com/jarmo/secrets-web There is also a CLI version if that is your taste: https://github.com/jarmo/secrets-cli To read about more technical details, look into the core repository at https://github.com/jarmo/secrets Any questions/comments/suggestions are welcome in here or via GitHub pull requests.

Hi HN! After several months of work, I'm excited to share ProKZee, a free and open-source network security tool built with Go and React using Wails framework. ProKZee allows developers, security researchers, and penetration testers to intercept, inspect, and modify HTTP/S traffic — similar to tools like Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, and Caido — but with a fast native UI, modern UX, and some unique features. https://github.com/al-sultani/prokzee

So I got so involved in setting up AdWords, tracking down WP security bloggers, etc. that I forgot to post it here and get you all to check it out and offer suggestions. It's only been out for a couple weeks or so though, so this still qualifies as "launch window", I guess. Check it out here: http://www.panic-press.com/ Promo code "show-hn" for a free month to try it out. It has 100 uses, so it shouldn't run out, but if it does, let me know.

Hi folks, I’m one of the maintainers and co-founder of the Go OSS project Permify (https://github.com/Permify/permify), an open-source authorization infrastructure inspired by Google Zanzibar. I would like to share a post where we aimed to provide a brief overview of how we integrated WASM with Golang to provide a richer user experience in our open-source playground. You can use the playground to create and test any authorization logic in a browser. The playground has three main sections: Schema: to model your authorization logic through our domanin specific language we…

Hello HN, for the past couple of months I've been working on Routify and wanted to share the progress made so far and hopefully get your opinion/feedback on it. Routify is a global serverless API gateway which handles routing, authentication, rate limiting, load balancing, monitoring, transformation etc (with more coming soon). Routify makes it easier to manage and secure public APIs. It's distributed across many regions globally and acts as a proxy between your clients and your services. You can configure it through the interface in a matter of minutes (no code required). There are…

Hey folks, Michael here. I have been working in this project on and of for about a year and a half and I finally got it into a state where I can share it. I initially started this project to learn Rust and afterwards decided to make it useful for others. Vulpo Auth is an authentication server that you can host yourself. The goal was to make it as easy as possible for you to get started and have a complete authentication solution without you having to configure anything. Project Website: https://auth.vulpo.dev The Project contains: - Auth Server (Rust) - Admin Dashboard - JS and…

Hello HN, I kept losing half my debugging sessions to hunting down why a request failed, or which middleware added that header, or why my JSON response was malformed—too many tools, too many context switches. So I built GoVisual, a tiny Go library that wraps your existing http.Handler and gives you a live dashboard at http://localhost:8080/__viz. - Real-time monitoring: Requests show up instantly via SSE - Deep inspection: Headers, request/response bodies, status, timing - Middleware tracing: Visualize execution order and durations - Zero external deps: Pure Go, drop-in…

I built GoSMig for my own projects and open-sourced it in case it helps others. It’s a tiny generic library (no external deps except golang.org/x/term) for writing SQL migrations in Go with compile-time checks. It supports transactional and non-transactional migrations, rollback, status, version, and a small CLI handler so you can ship your own migration binary. Why another migrator? - Minimal API, no DSL or file layout to learn - Type-safe via Go generics - Works with database/sql and sqlx out of the box - Should work with any db library (or wrapper) that implements some…

Hello there, I’m Guillaume, the cofounder and CEO of Bearer, a code security startup trying to rethink security products for a developer-first World. 7 months ago we introduced on HN, Bearer CLI (https://github.com/Bearer/bearer), our free and open code security scanner supporting at the time only Ruby and JavaScript applications. We’ve been working very hard with the team, thanks to community feedback to bring tons of new features as well as more language support to become everyone’s go-to code security solution. Just to name a few major features: - Native integration…

Hey HN, As most of you (I think?), I cannot learn something without having a project, on the side, to implement what I’ve just learned. Recode is the project that I've used to learn Go. It lets you create a development environment in your cloud provider account easily. You can think of it as a desktop version of Gitpod / Coder / GitHub Codespaces less polished and with less features but 100% free and open-source. At the time of writing, it only works with Visual Studio Code and AWS. In order to let you configure your development environments easily, I’ve chosen to use Docker with…

.env files have always felt archaic, insecure, clunky and honestly just not fun to work with. I see my friends (and myself) accidentally committing them all the time. Managing secrets across projects becomes a mess of copy-pasting keys into scattered env files with no real way to sync anything. So I built better-env: a secure, developer-friendly alternative to .env. Store your secrets once in a global encrypted store, and load them per-project at runtime. I’d love feedback on whether this feels useful beyond solo devs, and what you’d want for teams or CI setups. Fully open source:…

Hi HN, I'm a creator of Floww, a self-hostable workflow automation tool designed for developers who got frustrated by the limitations of visual builders like n8n. It's still a very early prototype, but the goal is to provide these same features in a code-first approach which allows for building and maintaining more complex workflows more easily. Example: import { Discord, GitHub } from "floww"; const discord = new Discord() const github = new GitHub() github.triggers.onPush({ branch: "main", owner: "usefloww", repository: "floww-dashboard", handler: async (ctx, event) => { const user =…

Hey HN I'm currently living my dream, being paid to do what I love: programming, something I've been doing since middle school for over 15 years. In those years doing programming, I’ve always thought that OpenID Connect/OAuth for Authentication is an amazing idea that more programmers should be familiar with. Using (properly configured) SSO may be one of the best security investment made by companies. It also saves a lot of works, both for companies (by delegating user management-related features to third party) and users (by reducing friction when using new services). However, one of…

I've created this library to make usage of Cobra (the famous Go CLI lib) more fluent and also make better use of Go generics when registering command flags. I'd appreciate feedback on the README and if you'd consider using such a wrapper. Also tell me if you think that fluent API reads well. If everything goes well, I'm planning to release a v1 soon! This depends on if I can implement a missing feature of elegantly defining mutually exclusive flags.
