Products that do what LLM Optimize, blackbox string optimization and AutoML with GPT-4 does
Introducing LLM Optimize, a toy proof-of-concept library for LLM-guided blackbox optimization using GPT-4. Perform optimization on problems beyond the usual numerical methods, such as code-based AutoML and natural language rubric-based optimization. Check it out: https://github.com/sshh12/llm_optimize

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

I have been working in AI space for a while now, first at FAANG with ML since 2021, then with LLM in start-ups since early 2023. I think LLM Application development is extremely iterative, more so than any other types of development. This is because to improve an LLM application performance (accuracy, hallucinations, latency, cost), you need to try various combinations of LLM models, prompt templates (e.g., few-shot, chain-of-thought), prompt context with different RAG architecture, different agent architecture, and more. There are thousands of possible combinations and you need a process…

LLM reinforcement fine-tuning platform to improve LLM output

Hi, We are building an open-source framework for loading and structuring LLM context to create accurate and explainable LLM answers using knowledge graphs and vector stores. We built the tool with four main concepts in mind: 1. Loader -> uses dlt in the backend to load and structure the data 2. Cognify step -> creates a graph with summaries, labels and factoids that are interconnected across the documents and stored as a representation in the vector store 3. Optimizer -> Uses DSPy to optimize LLM queries, and we plan to extend it to most of the knobs we can turn, like chunking etc. 4. Search…

Hi HN, we are the founders of Relari (https://www.relari.ai). We launched our LLM evaluation stack on HN a few months ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39641105), which is now used in production by AI teams at companies like Vanta and PwC. We have since expanded to directly optimizing parts of an LLM pipeline using a data-driven approach. In particular, we see a lot of potential in the Auto Prompt Optimization—which could be an attractive alternative to fine-tuning in many cases—to use data to align LLMs for domain-specific tasks. Here’s a demo video:…

Nowadays, a common AI tech stack has hundreds of different prompts running across different LLMs. Three key problems: - Choices, picking from 100s of LLMs the best LLM for that 1 prompt is gonna be challenging, you're probably not picking the most optimized LLM for a prompt you wrote. - Scaling/Upgrading, similar to choices but you want to keep consistency of your output even when models depreciate or configurations change. - Prompt management is scary, if something works, you'll never want to touch it but you should be able to without fear of everything breaking. So we launched Prompt…

Hey everyone! Along with my team, I've developed a reinforcement learning system that automatically optimizes LLM prompts, complete with a visualization feature to track both prompt structure and learning progress over time. Take a look here: https://nomadic-ml.github.io/nomadic/cookbooks/Nomadic_Promp... Check out our website too:https://www.nomadicml.com/ In terms of how this visualization works: The RL Prompt Optimizer employs a reinforcement learning framework to iteratively improve prompts used for language model evaluations. At each episode, the…

LLM Application development is extremely iterative, more so than any other types of development. This is because in addition to all the activities involved in regular application development, we also need to make the LLM Application accurate and reduce hallucination. To improve performance, we need to trial and error various combinations of LLM models, prompt templates (e.g., few-shot, chain-of-thought), prompt context with different RAG architecture, try different agent architecture, and more. There are thousands of permutations to try. We need to be able to easily experiment with these…

Current AI-assisted CLI tools are often part of larger systems and work better on Linux. I built llm-term to address these. It's a Rust-based tool that compiles into a single binary file. You only need to download the binary, add it to your PATH, and configure your OpenAI key to get started. While llm-term offers an option for gpt-4o, it works great with gpt-4o-mini. So it's not costly. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

The release of microgpt by Andrej Karpathy is a foundational moment for AI transparency. In exactly 243 lines of pure, dependency-free Python, Karpathy has implemented the complete GPT algorithm from scratch. As a PhD scholar investigating AI and Blockchain, I see this as the ultimate tool for moving beyond the "black box" narrative of Large Language Models (LLMs). The Architecture of Simplicity Unlike modern frameworks that hide complexity behind optimized CUDA kernels, microgpt exposes the raw mathematical machinery. The code implements: The Autograd Engine: A custom Value class that…

Try it out here: https://labs.refuel.ai/playground Refuel LLM (84.2%) outperforms trained human annotators (80.4%), GPT-3-5-turbo (81.3%), PaLM-2 (82.3%) and Claude (79.3%) across a benchmark of 15 text labeling datasets. It is a Llama-v2-13b base model, trained on over 2500 unique datasets (5.24B tokens) spanning categories such as classification, entity resolution, matching, reading comprehension and information extraction.

Hi HN. I heard you like dev tools and AI, so we wanted to share our project that we’ve been working on. We’re working on Horizon [1] - a higher level abstraction for LLMs so that developers can spend less time trying to grapple with LLMs to make them work and more time with users. This is the starting feature set which takes an auto-ML approach to identify the optimal LLM model, hyperparameters, and prompt - instead of just giving you the tooling to figure it out yourself. You can read more about it in our documentations. Our view is that as LLMs become increasingly commoditized and prompts…

Hi HN, While building RAG agents, I noticed a lot of token budget was wasted on formatting overhead (HTML tags, JSON structure, whitespace). Existing solutions felt too heavy (often requiring torch/transformers), so I wrote this lightweight, zero-dependency library to solve it. It includes strategies for context packing, PII redaction, and tool output compression. Benchmarks show it can save ~15% of tokens with negligible latency overhead (<0.5ms). Happy to answer any questions!
