A few months ago (82 days to be exact!) I posted a link on HN to my game, Meatshields. A bunch of you commented and played my game and gave me some wonderful feedback. Over the last few months I've been playing with many of you and implementing the best of everybody's suggestions. So, thank you, HN for all your help! I feel this is an extreme overhaul I couldn't have done without your input. Since then, I have: Dramatically improved our hosting platform (So it HOPEFULLY won't go down this time (oops.)), Added two new units, Rebalanced all existing units, Added many more maps, Improved the…

Atlas Fury is an action game for mobile devices. I wanted to create a game I would play wherever I go that was inspired by Tyrian from the 90s. It's a time waster, but eh what arcade game wasn't a time waster? This is the first time I've created a game with Godot. On mobile no less which has it's fair share of issues. For example, iOS runs slower than Android. I'm not complaining, I profiled and targeted some older devices approx. 4-7 years ago, so far so good.

Hey, A bit of context.. So I think last week was my last straw, I hit 8k hours with dota and holy ** It finally hit me how much time I wasted on that game. I'm a software developer, I always wanted to develop something and put it out but was scared shitless to do so, I was kinda afraid to get bad traction, to fail or even worse to be completely ignored. so I decided to address two of these issues at once, stop playing dota and spend the weekend building a website that let you see what you could've done with your gaming hours. As an avid gamer for the last 20+ years, I know that it's only…

Based on personal struggles, I built an app that shows annoying things on my phone when I doomscroll. This includes dancing cats, the screen time police, or rain. Social media is great as long as you don't overuse it -- I learn and connect with friends thanks to it. But it's too easy to get hooked. When you open addictive apps, SpeedBump gives you a few options: 2, 5, 15, 30 minutes. The more you want to use, the more you have to wait before opening. Once time's up, it starts to annoy you a lot. There's no way to extend the timer without breaking your streak; you'll have to take a 15 min…

Hi Hacker News! My Co Co-op Matt and I are on a work term and were given the task of building a webapp that could make $20 in four weeks as our onboarding challenge. We're in the final stretch here and would sure appreciate HN's thoughts (we realize we kind of did this backwards, building something first before talking to people who might use it, but hey! We're leaning.). So basically, we tried to apply game dynamics to retaining visitors to websites by offering a reward (ie. discount coupon / premium content, etc.) for meeting various 'objectives' (ie. pages to visit). We call it ScavSite…
