24 alternatives to Loodio 2 – A Simple Rechargable Bathroom Privacy Device
Hey HN! I posted here some years ago trying to raise money for a Kickstarter for a product I call Loodio. Loodio is a motion activated music player for bathrooms that plays music during the bathroom visit to give users privacy during their sacred moments. The kickstarter failed, but I managed to create a product eventually with a lot of effort. I managed to sell 150 units of the first unit, mostly to United States but to all different parts of the world while working on the next version. The problem with the first version was that it was running on a Raspberry Pi Zero W (that had to be wall…
Loodio 2 is a rechargeable, motion-activated music player designed for bathroom privacy. The device automatically plays music when it detects movement, masking sounds during bathroom use. Unlike the original version… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi HN! A few years ago our company moved to a new office. That office has a insufferable bathroom in terms of privacy. You could hear a needle fall on the floor inside of it which made it very uncomfortable to use the bathroom. Many people ran the tap water or fake coughed to cover their “noises”, especially doing “no 2”. I got sick of not being able to be comfortable in the bathroom and hearing everyone’s toilet business so I decided to make a music player using a Raspberry Pi and soldered on a motion detector that started a white noise and music whenever you entered the bathroom to hide…

I have a large collection of music files gathered over the years, so I was sorely missing a decent offline music player that can serve as a frontend for the collection. I tried several Mac apps over the years, but since streaming music is mainstream now, there aren't good offline music players that meet my needs. So I spent the last 3 months building Petrichor! The idea is to solve my problem and learn Swift UI development along the way, while giving back to the community with this open-source project! Here's a list of features it has, with more getting added in future; - Everything you'd…

I built this because most Pomodoro timers felt too sterile. I wanted something that actually pulls you in with rain, brown noise, soft ASMR, and a few Middle Eastern tracks. Added animated backgrounds so it’s not just a blank screen. Runs fully in your browser. No accounts, no tracking, just open it and focus. If you give it a try or have ideas to make it better, I’d love to hear.

Hi HN, I created kew, a music player for the Linux terminal. This started when I asked myself: what if I could just type something like "play nirvana" in the terminal and have the rest taken care of automatically? That got the ball rolling and I kept adding stuff: covers in ascii and then as sixel images, a playlist view, a visualizer, a library view and finally search. While kew can be used as a commandline tool, it has evolved into a TUI app. Here are some example commands: kew nirvana # Plays all of your Nirvana songs, shuffled kew nevermind # Plays the "Nevermind" album in order kew…
