Hey HN, after our 13B release we've been working on a faster version of our open-source video model and we're excited to share it. We started with a 13B base model that already had competitive generation speeds (e.g. 55s for a 5s video on an H100 — faster than any other model out there). But we wanted to push it further to allow everyone to quickly iterate over their video generations. So we built a distilled version focused on speed without sacrificing temporal or spatial coherence. With the Distilled model, you can now generate 5-second 720p videos in about 9.5 seconds on an H100, and…
LTXV 13B Distilled is an open-source video generation model designed to create 5-second 720p videos quickly. It generates videos in approximately 9.5 seconds on an H100 GPU and around 1.5 minutes on consumer GPUs like… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. LTX.bio launched in 2021; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

LTX-2 is an open-source diffusion model that combines video and audio. Visually it's not at the level of Seedance 2.0, Veo 3.1, or Sora 2, but it’s open-weights, so anyone can play with it. I wanted to see how good it is at generating video from just audio. Off-the-shelf, it's not very good, but I found that if you run the audio through Gemini to generate a prompt, then feed that into LTX-2, in addition to the audio, the output matches the audio much more often. Foley sounds work particularly well, and one fun use case is uploading audio of yourself to see what AI thinks you look like.…

X-Pilot▲328Hi HN, I'm Heshan, founder of X-Pilot. We're building an AI Video Generator for online courses and educational content. Unlike most text-to-video generator that render videos directly from models (which often produce random stock footage unrelated to the actual content), we take a code-first approach: generate editable code layers, let users verify/refine them, then render to video. The Problem We're Solving Most AI video generators treat "education" and "marketing" the same—they optimize for "looks good" rather than "logically accurate." When you feed a technical tutorial or course…

Hey HN, I've been working on this side project for the past month. It generates a step-by-step tutorial guide for YouTube videos that you can follow along without watching long videos. Best suited for tutorial videos but can work for other videos aswell. No BS. Just straight to the point. The guides are generated from pure transcript so you don't have to worry about it being AI. It's my first project as a total beginner. Something I had to do inorder to get out of tutorial hell. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you face any problems or bugs. I would try to fix them to the…

Try it out! https://glhf.chat/ Hey HN! We’ve been working for the past few months on a website to let you easily run (almost) any open-source LLM on autoscaling GPU clusters. It’s free for now while we figure out how to price it, but we expect to be cheaper than most GPU offerings since we can run the models multi-tenant. Unlike Together AI, Fireworks, etc, we’ll run any model that the open-source vLLM project supports: we don’t have a hardcoded list. If you want a specific model or finetune, you don’t have to ask us for it: you can just paste the Hugging Face link in and…

Hey HN, this is Lina, Andrew, and Sidney from Lemon Slice. We’ve trained a custom diffusion transformer (DiT) model that achieves video streaming at 25fps and wrapped it into a demo that allows anyone to turn a photo into a real-time, talking avatar. Here’s an example conversation from co-founder Andrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeYp5xQMFZY. Try it for yourself at: https://lemonslice.com/live. (Btw, we used to be called Infinity AI and did a Show HN under that name last year: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41467704.) Unlike existing…

The model has 3B active parameters. We put the code, homepage, paper and model links here: - Code: https://github.com/bytedance/Lance - Homepage: https://lance-project.github.io/ - Paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/2605.18678 - Model: https://huggingface.co/bytedance-research/Lance p.s. Lance is a research project, not a polished product. The model was trained using fewer than 128 GPUs.

Hello! I'm Andrew Arrow, a developer and Final Cut Pro user. My history with FCP goes back years and years, I tried to be a video editor as a career but ended up a software developer. I purchased the full version of the software a long, long time ago. And to Apple's credit, every single time I goto the App Store on any mac I still have access to download it. I must have been through 20, 30? I don't know, but a lot of macs over the years. Just recently I downloaded it again and noticed the XML Export feature. Wow. There's a lot of stuff there. I mean a lot. I started playing around with…

Thumbnail X▲47Hey HN! Software engineer here. As an amateur youtuber, I've been struggling with thumbnails, especially since I don't have any design or editing skills. Decided to give it a try and make my own automatic thumbnail generator. Me being an ADHD person, made sure that there's no parameter tuning and shape choosing and fuss like that, just simply give prompt and generate thumbnail. Increased my CTR from 1.2% to 2.3% (faceless fantasy books niche on youtube) Thumbnail X (completely free for now) - https://thumbnailx.com/ Just wanna add that this is by no means a perfect thumbnail…

Hey HN, After GPT-3 created waves in the tech industry, a lot of AI tools were emerging and with that, some AI website builders But the results seemed way too generic to us. It felt like the developers were rushing to catch the wave instead of building a proper tool We took our time, did months of RnD and finally came up with something better than what others in the market are doing. It’s got better design output. While it’s still in beta, I wanted to show HN what we did. Will appreciate the feedback when you guys try it out. Here is the link to signup for the beta:…

Hey HN, Long time lurker first time posting. This is a streamlit app I wrote as a side project. It's a Generative AI webapp for creating short 30 second informative videos on any topic or subject under the sun. It's not perfect by any means, but a cool demo. It takes around a minute to generate so please be patient. Email is optional, only if you want link to watermark removed completed video clip. Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! JD P.S. I am actively looking for Senior Python/DevOps/MLOps roles in California. Contact info in my profile. Thanks.

Hi HN! I've got the barebones of a service running on top of Stable Diffusion XL. I can cheaply run image generations at 1024x1024. And of course there's a limit to how fast I can generate them given the request queue and limited GPUs, but the service is cheap enough that I'm happy to run it out of pocket for now. Let me know your thoughts, I hope you enjoy the service!

Daydream▲19I adapted VACE to work with real-time autoregressive video generation. Here's what it can do right now in real time: - Depth, pose, optical flow, scribble, edge maps — all the v2v control stuff - First frame animation / last frame lead-in / keyframe interpolation - Inpainting with static or dynamic masks - Stacking stuff together (e.g. depth + LoRA, inpainting + reference images) - Reference-to-video is in there too but honestly quality isn't great yet compared to batch Getting ~20 fps for most control modes on a 5090 at 368x640 with the 1.3B models. Image-to-video hits ~28 fps.…

I had 14,000 photos sitting on a drive and wanted an excuse to play with local vision models and Elixir/Phoenix. I originally tried to get LLaVA to tell me if a photo was 'good' or matched my style, but quickly learned that LLMs have terrible taste. I ended up demoting the LLM to just extract metadata, and built a custom CLIP/Ridge Regression pipeline to actually learn my preferences based on how I rate things. The stack is Phoenix/Oban on the orchestrator side, and Python/FastAPI/Instructor for the AI workers. Happy to answer any questions about the architecture,…
