Hi, so over the weekend I built a free to use service to compress one or more images using MozJEPG encoding enabled via WASM. It's a static site, all the processing happens on the client side, no file uploads or sign-ups needed! Why? The existing services are either filled with ads or require you to sign-up / pay. would greatly appreciate any feedback! TIA!

I used to use rawpixels.net for this purpose, but that website suddenly disappeared earlier this year. I threw together this web app as a replacement. It's nothing fancy, but it does what I need, and it might do what you need too. Feel free to suggest a new name. PixPeep is the name I came up with because it lets you peep at pixel buffers, but the name is already used by something else (and it's honestly not that great).

Hi hn! It has always annoyed me that recipe websites are so cluttered and have so much (in my opinion) useless fluff, so I made a little website to solve that problem! One good thing about SEO for once is that Google has pretty much forced the internet to adopt JSON-LD for recipes so many recipes are directly extractable and for others I have several fall back parsers including an indieweb parser :) If you do find a website that is broken feel free to click the flag button or share it as I would love to fix any edge cases

I've just revamped my website for image-to-image conversion called Ekpic and would love to get your feedback on the new version. I have not visitors nor anything, but hey, whatever . In any case, I wanted to have good metrics for speed. I just changed the framework to astro. Still various modifications to do. Try it at: ssh krnl.duetbrowser.com No sign up, totally free - no download. Let me know what you think. Prior art exists (brow.sh) but I wasn't satisfied with their graphical take. I wanted the raw, old skool terminal days of the early internet - BBS, and old green phosphor library comptuers - but running the modern web, with all the bells and jingle jangle whistles (JavaScript, etc). No funding, no VC, just 100% raw terminal fun. Not sure how long the demo will last, but try it out.

I got to pondering the quickest way to save a random image so I could get to it on all of my devices, got a wee bit carried away with the technical possibilities, and this was the result. I had 14,000 photos sitting on a drive and wanted an excuse to play with local vision models and Elixir/Phoenix. I originally tried to get LLaVA to tell me if a photo was 'good' or matched my style, but quickly learned that LLMs have terrible taste. I ended up demoting the LLM to just extract metadata, and built a custom CLIP/Ridge Regression pipeline to actually learn my preferences based on how I rate things. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't easily save my whiteboards and had to put everything in one whiteboard which started to lag my PC after a while. So I made ExcaliHub.
