24 alternatives to lykhari
I've been blogging for 15+ years. I moved from Blogger to WordPress to Ghost and eventually being dissatisfied with all of them (primarily because of bloat), I built a platform for myself and opened it for public. After building it, I searched a bit more and found some good ones (write as, bear blog, etc) but it was quite late. All in all, Lykhari is a simple blogging platform for writers, essayists, journalists, personal bloggers, and above all for humans. Businesses are not welcome. Targeting businesses brings money but also bloat. A platform should exist which is simple and kept simple.
Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. lykhari launched in 2024; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.

You simply: 1. Connect your device. 2. Create a top-level `handwritten.blog` folder. 3. Every new notebook in that folder becomes a draft on https://handwritten.blog/ I hope this eventually obviates the need to look at the ugly upload interface you have to use to now upload your writing.

Pagecord▲122Hey HN I’ve been at a loose end for the past few days so I decided to build a thing. I’m largely devoid of original ideas so I built a (micro-) blogging app with a slight twist: you run it using email. All you need is an email account. No new tools to wrangle. No password to forget. Compose in your favourite email editor and send to a secret address. Pagecord does the rest. It's great for bloggy long-form writing, but it’s maybe even more fun for micro-blogging your thoughts as you would a Twitter feed (you can subscribe to people/blogs using RSS). I figured nobody would pay so it's…

blogstatic.io▲581A bit of context… I've been building https://blogmaker.app since April 2021, 5 years now. The launch tweet: https://x.com/BlogmakerApp/status/1383742023627247630 I had built it initially as a personal challenge to see if I could have a working product for 20 hours worth of work, and I did it. This was way before AI tools. A few months later, I included a Stripe button and the first payment came immediately in. In September 2022 I decided to focus (give up my contract gigs as a designer/dev). I took out a personal loan for $20K and then an angel…

Hyvor Blogs▲90Hi HN, We are super excited to launch our second SaaS product, Hyvor Blogs. We (a small team of 3) have been working on this for about a year. After a bunch of testing, feedback, and iterations, here we are at the launch. We are trying to build a blogging platform that has all the features you need to run a blog without having to depend on plugins (themes, SEO, multi-language support, tags, team management, etc.). Most importantly, it’s just a blogging platform - not a site builder - not a membership platform. Overall, it’s been a great learning experience working on Hyvor Blogs. We’d love…

Greetings, creator here! I've been working on a new blogging platform specifically for lists on and off for a few months now and I'm excited to officially announce its launch. After seeing https://charm.sh a few months ago, I've been enamored by the idea of SSH apps. I decided that a blogging platform focused on developers could be the perfect use case for an SSH app. Also, I love writing lists. I think restricting writing to a set of lists can really help improve clarity in thought. The goal of this blogging platform is to make it simple to use the tools you love to write and…

Hey HN, Blog discovery is a problem [0] due to the decentralized nature of online writing. Everyone writes on their own site or platform, and there’s no central place that brings everything together. Google results prioritize large media publications over blogs, so we need something else. Blog Surf is an attempt to organize all of the great online writing done by individuals. I launched this project last year as a directory of personal blogs [1], but have now rebuilt it from scratch into a full-text search engine for blog posts. You can search for blog posts, and filter by publish date and…

Inspired by the "Ask HN: Share your personal site" last week, I finally came around and built a thing I wanted for a long time: a simple website to randomly explore all the awesome personal blogs without having to subscribe to them all. So this is what I built over the weekend. You click a button and indieblog.page will redirect you to a random page from a personal page... I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Hello HN! I wanted to share something we at Good Enough (https://goodenough.us) built over the past month. Pika! https://pika.page I know, I know, who needs more blogging software? In this case, _I DO_. I find that the big players in the market have a distracting number of dials and knobs. I greatly appreciate the indieweb players in the space, but none of those solutions quite fit my way of blogging and so I'd bounce from one to the other to the other. I tried SSGs and my goodness do I dislike the experience of maintaining a website with them. I dislike the SSG…
