24 alternatives to Grigora

Hello HN, I'm Karan, and after a hack wiped out my blog and revenue ($15-20k/month), I was propelled to create Grigora.co. Our beta platform is designed to be a secure, straightforward alternative to WordPress, addressing the pain points I faced as a blogger. With 165 users exploring Grigora and zero paid customers so far, we're eager to evolve. We invite the HN community to test Grigora.co, share feedback, and join us in this mission to streamline web security and functionality. Looking forward to your insights, Karan

A few days ago, I responded to a comment by bloggergirl offering to read anyone's web copy and help. I shot off an email hoping for a paragraph or two of feedback on my startup's copy. Instead I received a professional, detailed deck of tons of invaluable well thought out feedback. It must have taken her an entire afternoon. Here's a link to it: http://www.slideshare.net/shereefb/recommendations-for-bettermeans To top it off, this isn't someone with a lot of free time on her hands, she's only days away from launching her own startup (page99test) This community blows my mind!

Hey folks, I would like to show you a new WordPress plugin and ask you for your opinion. The plugin allows you to find large files in your WordPress installation. This is useful, for example, when hard disk space is running low or backups are becoming too large or taking too long. If you like it, I am happy to get a rating on wordpress.org. I am thankful for any review / comment! Thanks, Marcel

I love HN but always felt the search with algolia is okay but does have some limitations. Since I work at Vectara I decided to try and create a better search for HN. It's based on data from roughly the last 6 months of HN stories and comments. Would love to hear feedback and how useful this is relative to the existing search.

Hi HN, We are super excited to launch our second SaaS product, Hyvor Blogs. We (a small team of 3) have been working on this for about a year. After a bunch of testing, feedback, and iterations, here we are at the launch. We are trying to build a blogging platform that has all the features you need to run a blog without having to depend on plugins (themes, SEO, multi-language support, tags, team management, etc.). Most importantly, it’s just a blogging platform - not a site builder - not a membership platform. Overall, it’s been a great learning experience working on Hyvor Blogs. We’d love…

I built this last year but never posted it anywhere, but now with Reddit hiatus it seems like the right time to give it a shot. The main goal of zsync is to foster high quality content and discussion. That's it. If it can't accomplish that, then to me it is a failure. I watched Reddit go from having high quality discussion in 2008-9 to devolving into the PC meme dumpster it is today [1]. HN still has the highest discussion quality of any "forum" I know of, but (1) it can sometimes randomly be very hostile/toxic to new tech, the most glaring example being crypto. (2) HN is basically a…

I've been trying to write my "go on rails" framework for years. I never quite got it like I wanted. There is gin and echo and all sorts of other frameworks and patterns but I finally found something I really like: /foo/ /foo/bar/ /foo/bar/more/ That's it. Just three levels and all my controllers get passed in what's between the / with var names first, second, third. In order to really make sure this framework could build something real I made a Hacker News clone. RemoteRenters.com is a HN just for articles about the remote work revolution…

Hey my name is Crisa and this is my first post here on HN. I love this site and it inspired me to build a clone of it for my newsletter. Instead of having a boring landing page, I hope to gather articles, blogs, interesting projects on my own platform. I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad so that I can improve the site. Hey HN community, I built a tool that helps optimize your post for hitting the first page of Show HN. How it works: I used a Hugging Face dataset of all Hacker News posts from the past 3 years and trained a model that predicts how successful your post might be. There's still a lot of randomness on HN, so nothing is guaranteed, but the tool helps optimize your post for higher odds. A couple of interesting findings: - GitHub repo links work x3 better than regular domains - Open-source tools have a steady virality rate (13.9% - one of the highest) - "I built" outperforms "We built" - Using…

Hi HN! made a vibe coding platform with the non-technical user in mind. This means that you don’t have to integrate Supabase, Auth0, it’s automatic. Our goal is to soon also provide email, payments, and other integrations automatically. We target SMB owners and entrepreneurs. We will differentiate by talking non-technical, hide code most of the time, friendly consumery UX and support Made pricing also simpler: 1 credit = 1 prompt (drives me nuts when in other platforms you don’t know what you’re paying for) Would love any thoughts!

A year and a half after I published https://HackYourNews.com, I've rewritten it to be neater and added support for more news sources. HackYourNews.com v1 had a great response on HN [1] and consistently sees ~2k weekly unique visitors. There were many long-standing requests that I wanted to fulfill (thanks for your patience!): a proper dark mode, correct rendering on mobile devices, and more cogent summaries. This rewrite is the result. gpt-4o-mini reduces the cost of summarization to an absurd degree, so it's now sustainable to keep this free service going! Someday, I hope to use…

I built Campfiree because I got tired of platforms treating users as products. On Campfiree, users submit feature ideas and vote on them weekly. Moderation is handled by randomly selected community juries, no corporate team deciding what's acceptable. It's free with ads or $7/year without (free during beta). We have 55 users so far and ship features every week based on what the community votes for. I'd love honest feedback on the model and the product.

I've been blogging for 15+ years. I moved from Blogger to WordPress to Ghost and eventually being dissatisfied with all of them (primarily because of bloat), I built a platform for myself and opened it for public. After building it, I searched a bit more and found some good ones (write as, bear blog, etc) but it was quite late. All in all, Lykhari is a simple blogging platform for writers, essayists, journalists, personal bloggers, and above all for humans. Businesses are not welcome. Targeting businesses brings money but also bloat. A platform should exist which is simple and kept simple.

Hey HN, After GPT-3 created waves in the tech industry, a lot of AI tools were emerging and with that, some AI website builders But the results seemed way too generic to us. It felt like the developers were rushing to catch the wave instead of building a proper tool We took our time, did months of RnD and finally came up with something better than what others in the market are doing. It’s got better design output. While it’s still in beta, I wanted to show HN what we did. Will appreciate the feedback when you guys try it out. Here is the link to signup for the beta:…

So I got so involved in setting up AdWords, tracking down WP security bloggers, etc. that I forgot to post it here and get you all to check it out and offer suggestions. It's only been out for a couple weeks or so though, so this still qualifies as "launch window", I guess. Check it out here: http://www.panic-press.com/ Promo code "show-hn" for a free month to try it out. It has 100 uses, so it shouldn't run out, but if it does, let me know.

I built it for myself because ngrok didn't let me add one more domain unless I paid $12 more. I probably should've looked for alternatives before building my own, but my grudge got in the way . Once I started, I wanted to make it better than the other options. Silly, I know. No one probably cares. I plan to open source it sometime next year because I’ve got other projects to finish first. It's free until I deplete my cloud credits, then it will switch to a tier-based model with a free option.

Hi HN! Agora is an AI search engine for e-commerce products. We've indexed 21 million products sold on 62,000 different Shopify and WooCommerce stores and made them easy for customers to search and purchase. Think of a decentralized Amazon. I originally built Agora as a side project and launched it here on HN. The search took 5 - 10 seconds to return results and the app looked like it was designed in MS Paint (by yours truly). https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38635695 Since the MVP launch, here are a few technical challenges that we've been working on: 1. Hi HN, For the last 18 months, I've been working solo on building a completely independent search engine from scratch. Today, I'm opening it up for beta testing and would love to get your feedback. The project powers two public sites from the same 2-billion-page index: Searcha.Page: A session-aware search engine that uses a persistent browser key (not a cookie) for better context. Seek.Ninja: A 100% stateless, privacy-first version with no identifiers at all. The entire stack is self-hosted on a single ~$4k bare-metal EPYC server in my laundry room (no cloud, no VC funding). The search…
