The site is hard to establish as those doing meaningful work and in need of our help are sadly unaware of the programming community and spirit. But it has started to attract some requests - issues in github-mapping - that will hopefully propel it forward and serve to raise awareness with the good causes! After a weekend of coding, last night I launched a very early-version MVP of Coders Who Care. - The goal of the site is to connect nonprofits with developers willing to donate time to a good cause. Right now, it's simply a directory, but in the future I'll be adding more tools for devs and organizations, including ways for charities to post projects and tools to notify developers when a project is posted that matches their interests, etc. I'll also introduce some social components, like recommendations/endorsements, and I have plans for eventually adding a software distribution system that…

Since everyone seems to be making a github application, I thought I'd share mine. It's an aggregated view of all of a given person's github projects, as well as easyish lookups for linkedin/stackoverflow/hackernews. It attempts to determine both productivity (how much code did this person write?) as well as impact (did anyone care?) I'd love any feedback, but go easy on the number of simultaneous searches as I'm trying to play nice by github's api limits. check it -- http://www.gitalytics.com

I strongly believe that every developer is a teacher and likewise. Every time you are asked to help someone else understand your code, you’ll always be grateful to be able to share your own knowledge with others. Hey Guys, I created GithubReader.org (open-source, non-profit, most of the code is written by ChatGPT). My motivation: I wanted an easy way to keep a list of repositories I want to learn from and access them quickly. So, I built a search page where I can find repositories by name, like Google. Also, I wanted a nicer way to read Markdown files on my laptop without the GitHub UI, like reading a book.
