Products that do what Mailrecipe limits the number of emails you send to a user to 1 per day does
Last week, I spammed my users with emails by mistake. I had written an idempotent method to do a transaction and send a confirmation email. I didn't realize the email call is not idempotent. So, when the transaction failed, it retried again and again and spammed the entire user base with emails. I was so embarrassed and wrote an API layer on top of my email delivery service (SendGrid) to ensure that my users won't get more than 1 email per day, irrespective of my architecture or mistakes. I am publishing it as a public API, in case anyone else needs it:…

Back in 2010 I had an idea for a service that would allow people to easily create semi-permanent email aliases so that they could give an email address to people and websites without revealing their real email address. These aliases will continue to work indefinitely unless you choose to block them. My brother and I spent a few months building the initial version and launched the website in July 2010. For the first year we had about 50 signups per month, by 2013 this had increased to 1500 and it's currently around 3500 per month. Similarly, our revenue grew consistently but slowly - doubling…

Dan Ariely and I are looking for ways to help people with high email load. One idea was Shortwhale, which we've tested for a few months now. The idea is super simple: It's a place to tell people how you prefer email and it offers a simple contact form that adds the necessary structure to email. Although technically trivial, it works extremely well for Dan. We have ideas on how to expand this but first we'd like to know if someone else might find this useful too (we know that this is only a solution for people who get tons of (unsolicited) email). Underlying to all of this is the idea to put…

Hey HN, I'm a longtime reader and this is my first Show HN (exciting!) It's a collaboration between me and two friends, and we're building this upon another app we made called EmailYak, an API to receive email. We're trying something new and releasing the documentation to an app while we're still building it. We'd love feedback. Do you belong to any of these categories? 1) You've built an app with two distinct groups of users (say, people with cars and those looking for a ride) and they were able to communicate with each other. Did you expose personal email addresses? Did you send…

Hi HN :) really excited to share this with you. The one thing AI reliably does is generate noise. Half the tools I see launch are just machines for producing more noise across more channels. And people are starting to see this in the form of emails in their inboxes as spam filters are struggling. There used to be a useful signal in email: the effort a sender put into customizing a message was a rough proxy for how relevant it actually was. AI killed that. Now it's customized slop with the appearance of effort with none of the cost. It is painful that the open internet / open channels…

Hi HN! I'm Louw, founder of the enterprise insurtech scale-up Root[0]. Over the last 8 years, my inbox has been flooded with unsolicited emails, especially since early 2023. Recruitment services, outsourced software development agencies, and a crazy amount of lead generation services (thanks, Apollo!) drowned my inbox. To solve this, I created Unspam. Initially, it was a simple tool for myself and fellow founders to reduce noise. And it worked — about 10% of my emails were swiftly and accurately categorized as unsolicited messages. Given its success, I've decided to package and share Unspam…

Capturing emails always sucked. I don't want to add a full-blown newsletter API. That's why I've created my own tool. Would love your feedback on this

Example: Blah blah blah Please also DM me here: https://bar.cwhlabs.com/s/Y6QJLKFDJNAOQ1D2VEITYKJRRVANI9NP --- How it works: Create a inbox -> generate link -> leave it -> check mail in 7 days -> (auto destroy) leave it on the anonymous place whatever you want people to contact you one time only, ask them to leave a contact method also. Contact them back. Basically it is a safer way to contact online since scammers are crazy collecting our infos/social handles in 2023. The mailbox will auto burnt after 7 days. I hope it helps you. Thanks for visit.
