Products that do what Mass Dissent – Easily send a letter to U.S. Congress representatives does
Hi HN! I just launched the MVP of Mass Dissent, a website that provides an easy way to send a short message as physical mail to your representatives in the U.S. Congress. The site reduces the effort required to send a letter to an elected official, hopefully resulting in more people writing to their representatives regarding the issues they care about. Originally, the idea was to allow users to select Tweets to print onto a postcard that would be sent to their representatives. However, last fall the Twitter OAuth API stopped working (for me at least), so I decided to pivot slightly to…

Hi HN, I’ve been frustrated that I only find out how my representatives voted when the news cycle decides to cover it, so I built a simple script that texts me a digest instead. What it is: • Pick daily / weekly / bi-weekly / monthly • Get one SMS listing each vote cast by your House rep + both Senators • Messages include bill numbers, your rep’s “Yea/Nay/Present”, a one-sentence summary, and a link to congress.gov How to try it: 1. hi friends! i'm pretty tired of engagement bait and all the political nonsense on my x/twitter feed. i was curious if i could use an llm to filter out these type of content, so i prototyped a quick chrome extension. it uses LLama 3.3 to analyze the tweet through https://groq.com/ (because they are super-super fast). the extension is available in the chrome store, also there is a link to the repo. - you can tweak the system prompt for the filtering - but you need your own API key from Groq (you can get one for free)

It's not pretty, but it's really neat & kinda addicting. Anyone can email or text anything to _ _ _ _ _ [email protected] and it immediately creates a public page and an email address. For example, say you wanted to create a page for coding errors called fmlcodesucks, you could just text or email it to [email protected] and it instantly posts your picture to that page and lets anyone contribute by…

Congress quietly released api.congress.gov yesterday, and it seemed natural to make a bot announcing everything either house did, so here one is.
