hi friends! i'm pretty tired of engagement bait and all the political nonsense on my x/twitter feed. i was curious if i could use an llm to filter out these type of content, so i prototyped a quick chrome extension. it uses LLama 3.3 to analyze the tweet through https://groq.com/ (because they are super-super fast). the extension is available in the chrome store, also there is a link to the repo. - you can tweak the system prompt for the filtering - but you need your own API key from Groq (you can get one for free)

I'm sure you all saw the debate a few days ago, alongside all the tech influencoors giving their mid-takes about politics. Doesn't it get tiring? That's why I built mindfirewall a chrome extension that uses AI to filter out tweets. You'll never have to see politics, war, or negativity on your timeline again. I’ve spent a lot of time reading articles that promise a lot but never give me what I’m looking for. They’re full of clickbait titles, scary claims, and pointless filler. I created this chrome extension for myself where I track my own behavior locally and recommend myself content from platforms I want content from (youtube/twitter/quora/etc) in a feed. I made it public just in case anyone else was interested. I would rather have control over my own algorithm and own the data. Also, it gives me flexibility. Turns out I do like these feeds just not when I don't own it haha. Let me know what you think of my implementation?

We built a Chrome extension and iOS app that filters Twitter's feed using Qwen3.5-4B for contextual matching. You describe what you don't want in plain language—it removes posts that match semantically, not by keyword. What surprised us was that because Twitter's ranking algorithm adapts based on what you engage with, consistent filtering starts reshaping the recommendations over time. Lately I've felt exhausted due to the deluge of AI/GPT posts on hacker news, and have seen similar grumblings. I threw together this frontend that filters out anything with the phrases AI, LLM, GPT, or LLaMa for use until the hype dies down a bit. Before anyone asks, yes I did try to use ChatGPT to help, and while the code it provided was helpful, it needed some heavy bug-fixing. Edit: One other note I forgot to mention. The favicon is generated by Stable Diffusion, I asked it to generate an "Aritificial Intelligence Favicon", and then I added the red circle with line through it.

We're using Twitter and our API to pull tweets from only registered voters, and showing how the discussion breaks down among the parties.
