Chrome extension to hide AI/GPT related submissions from HN

Hi All, since I am consistently overwhelmed with all the all the ai/gpt news on the hn front page I built this simple extension to filter out such articles and show them on the extension popup if I'm in the mood to read. I am interested in the topic but just tired of reading the similar discussions (local models, llama on mac, ai taking away our jobs, etc) all the time. Every few days I search for topics on hn.algolia.com and go over any exciting development. Ironically, since this was the first time I built an extension chat-gpt helped build 90% of the extension since . Also once…

In plain words

This Chrome extension filters AI and GPT-related articles from Hacker News' front page, moving them to a popup for optional reading. Built for users interested in the topic but fatigued by repetitive discussions about local models, job displacement, and similar themes, it lets them control when to engage with AI news. The extension also hides "Show HN" posts on the same subjects. Available for Chrome and Firefox, it was created by someone who found the constant stream of similar AI stories overwhelming despite caring about the field.

Also once installed, this show hn will disappear from your feed too :) Firefox : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/hacker-news-f... I built a Chrome extension that shows existing Hacker News posts for the current website. Background: Often when I read articles or websites, I find the associated HN posts and discussions at least as interesting as the content itself. I have been wishing for a solution to have all HN discussions for a page I am visiting directly to my fingertips, without searching. In fact, there are already extensions for it, but all of them (at the time of my search) were only developed with Manifest v2 and will therefore soon be deactivated. For this reason (and to get to know the development process of…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

Hi HN, Today we’re launching GPT-4 answers on Phind.com, a developer-focused search engine that uses generative AI to browse the web and answer technical questions, complete with code examples and detailed explanations. Unlike vanilla GPT-4, Phind feeds in relevant websites and technical documentation, reducing the model’s hallucination and keeping it up-to-date. To use it, simply enable the “Expert” toggle before doing a search. GPT-4 is making a night-and-day difference in terms of answer quality. For a question like “How can I RLHF a LLaMa model”, Phind in Expert mode delivers a…
