I am just getting ready to release TeamPostgreSQL 1.05. You can check it out here: http://www.teampostgresql.com It is a web-based admin interface for PostgreSQL, with a lot of work put into making it a user-friendly and productive way to work with the database. Hopefully this makes it ideal for when different people need to access the database, including developers, testers, support staff, managers etc. This will be the first release after several months of beta testing and user feedback. Some feature highlights: * Pretty neat web interface (GWT powered AJAX GUI) * Comprehensive database…

We just launched a small project I'm really proud of — a turbo Database MCP server! https://centralmind.ai - Connect your database to Cursor or Windsurf in just a few clicks. - Chat with PostgreSQL, MSSQL, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, and more. - Query huge Parquet files instantly with DuckDB in-memory mode. - No downloads, no setup headaches. Short video: https://youtu.be/BboQtxen9tA Built on top of our open-source MCP Database Gateway: https://github.com/centralmind/gateway Note: You’ll need to provide connection strings to your databases. For…

For the past 10 years at Timescale (now Tiger Data), I've been been watching developers make mistakes in database design: forgetting to index foreign keys, creating case-sensitive email lookups, using arbitrary VARCHAR limits. And I've seen the pain and frustration when there is major downtime and botched migrations fixing things. AI coding could have made this better but is only making things worse. It's infuriating. So, I (along with my awesome team at Tiger Data) built an MCP server that auto-injects Postgres best practices into AI context to help. The biggest innovation: our…

Hello! I created this tool to make reasoning about Postgres locks a bit easier. Given a database[1] and a set of DDL statements/migrations you want to check, pglockanalyze will open a transaction, execute the statements, read the pg_locks view to analyze the locks they acquire and rollback (or commit, depending on the flags you passed) the transaction. Then, it will output the results for each statement. I think there's merit in this idea, that said it's very much an experiment so there could be flaws and/or corner cases that this strategy won't work well for. It's meant to act as…

Hi HN, I've been building MCPSpec, an open-source CLI for MCP server reliability. Record sessions, generate mock servers, catch Tool Poisoning, and fail your CI build when something's wrong — without writing test code. There are ways to validate MCP servers today — the MCP Inspector, ad-hoc SDK scripts, unit tests for server internals — but nothing that handles regression detection, security auditing, mock generation, and CI pass/fail checks in one tool. MCPSpec does that: 1. Record a session against your real server, replay it after changes to catch regressions 2. Generate a standalone…

I’ve been building and using agents heavily lately. The Model Context Protocol ecosystem is growing insanely fast, but discovering and configuring new tools is still highly manual. Every time I needed to connect an agent to a new service, I had to browse registries, figure out the transport type, identify required env vars, and manually update "mcp.json" files. So I built MCPfinder. It aggregates servers from the official MCP registry, Glama, and Smithery (around 25,000 combined entries) into a deduplicated, ranked catalog. But the real twist is the DX: MCPfinder is itself an MCP server :D…

"Can you check if this user is on the premium plan?" "I have a support ticket on Mr.Bean, saying he cannot login... Can you have a look?" "How many subscriptions did we have today?" ... As senior SWE at Twenty.com (open source CRM), I had these quite often. Every day I needed to check something in Postgres, I had to wait 30 seconds for DBeaver to load or fight pgAdmin's UI. So I built Paul. Yes our database configuration has too many schemas (3000 schemas) for those clients, but still, it was not Postgres fault. Only the client that couldn't handle it. Paul is a native macOS app, light…

I’ve been building Canine for about 2 years now, and have slowly grown it to about ~1000 developers using it for deploying all sorts of apps / projects / etc. Amazingly, the whole thing is still able to run on a single 48GB Hetzner VPS. Think of it basically like Coolify, for Kubernetes. I previously posted about it here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44292103 Recently, we added MCP capabilities to canine, and I was shocked how well it worked. It basically is able to create services, cron jobs, databases, get the logs for these and redeploy. See it here:…
