Line9 is a new rendering engine for Mermaid flowchart diagrams that aims to remove the need for manual adjustment of layout. Mermaid is a popular text-based language for describing multiple types of diagrams. Several Mermaid rendering engines already exist. Most, like the original mermaid.js, use Dagre or ELK graph drawing libraries to automatically lay out their diagrams. I’ve used Mermaid for the past four years but often recreated my flowcharts in a diagram editor so that I could modify the layout to something that better suited my needs. Use Line9 when you want an automatic flowchart…

During the implementation of a huge high performance service. In order to keep context small (mainly for humans) I kept the specs into mermaid diagrams. When communicating with humans; diagrams were easy to follow and to remember. But when I asked the agent to implement what's in the diagram, most of the times it failed. So I came into conclusion that agents are good into writing mermaid diagrams but they are not good into reading them. I built graph2agent in order to deterministically (without inference :) ) convert mermaid diagrams into digestible rich text for agents. examples:…

Hi HN, Nick here, founder at OpenKnowledge. We built an open source library, Visimer, for editing Mermaid diagrams with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get visual editor. Try the playground at https://visimer.com/playground. You can rename labels, change shapes, add new nodes, etc. by clicking and dragging the visual canvas. We set out to build this originally for OpenKnowledge, our markdown wysiwyg editor, then realized it’d be great to share it as a proper embeddable component library so that other apps can leverage it as well. Our general take is that AI is great for generating…

I built a CLI tool that turns codebases and PRs into diagrams so you can quickly understand how things fit together. Originally made it because I couldn't follow my own AI-generated repos. Just shipped a big update: - Switched from D2 to Mermaid for rendering - Tree-sitter AST parsing + agentic flow instead of raw LLM calls. ~50x faster. - Works on any GitHub repo or PR, not just local - Dropped the web frontend, it's just a CLI now - Published as a pip package Still a ton to improve and I'm building fast. Feedback, issues, PRs all welcome.
