Try it out on your WiFi: https://tapchat.com I’ve always been shocked at the fact that it’s easier to chat with someone on the other side of the world than with someone who is on the exact same WiFi as you. I think that is a shame because WiFi networks are essentially a bunch of existing micro-communities which your phone already automatically connects to. Think about how many other people have used or will use the same WiFi as you at home, school, work, or in public; and so far it has been practically impossible to chat or share pictures with them. After leaving my job earlier…

I hope you are doing better today than yesterday. (TLDR in the comments; or enjoy my story :) ) Why: About 11 months ago, I launched my app for the first time on Reddit's r/lonely because I had previously experienced loneliness myself during grad school. I wanted to reach out to people going through similar experiences by providing them with what would’ve helped me in the past. I felt this was an important mission for me and a much more rewarding one than my day job that I quit my job to work on the app full-time. It was necessary because I did not come from a programming background. I…

This is something fun I’ve been hacking on recently: ridiculously simple group chat. Go to http://faces.io and then get your friends to do the same. That’s it! :-D Currently works best in Chrome. It’s definitely beta status at best. Audio can get weird—be ready to mute. ;-) Let me know what you think!

Hey everyone! We would like feedback on our Startup Weekend project, DropSend ( Temporary name ) Here's our pitch: We want to change the way you send files to your friends or contact. Because let's face it,sending a file by email feels really clunky and is limited by the size, Instant Messenger is slow and you need to be online and finally Dropbox while perfect for storing files, doesn't really fit this use case. With our desktop application, one click (and we mean it), is all it takes to send a file. Imagine dragging a file of any size to one edge of your computer screen and see a dock…

For the past couple of months, I’ve been working with a total stranger, @ahmetsulek. We’ve never met in real life, and our communication has been restricted to Skype. And that’s Skype call, not video. Whilst it’s advised that one should only team up with somebody they’ve known for a long time, I’ve found this not to be necessary. Instead, all you need is a dose of mutual respect and a clear partnership agreement. We’ve been working together for the past couple of months on a web app and Chrome Extension that aggregates sites like Hacker News, Designer News, Sidebar.io, Behance and Dribbble…

Today my friends and I are launching a project we've been hacking on for the past few years. It's friendly web based group chat (with apps for Mac, Windows, and iOS) that's not limited to a single business. It basically offers the power of XMPP with a simple UI. chatsimply.com Please check it out and let me know what you think!
