Hello HN, I’ve always loved building frontend-only apps—those you can prototype over a weekend, host for free on GitHub Pages, and scale to millions of users. Unfortunately, AI-enabled apps complicate things, as exposing your OpenAI key to the world is obviously a no-go. This also means mobile developers often have to run their own servers. That’s why I built ServerlessAI, an API gateway that lets you securely call multiple AI providers directly from client side using OpenAI-compatible APIs. You can authenticate users through any identity provider, like Google or Apple, and set per-user…

Built this after getting tired of fighting local AI setup (CUDA issues, dependencies, API configs). Goal was to make something that just runs locally without all the overhead. Happy to answer questions or get feedback.

Hey HN! Alex and Zack from Nexa AI here. We are excited to share a project our team has been passionately working on recently, in collaboration with Jiajun from Meta, Qun from San Francisco State University, and Xin and Qi from the University of North Texas. Running AI models on edge devices is becoming increasingly important. It's cost-effective, ensures privacy, offers low-latency responses, and allows for customization. Plus, it's always available, even offline. What's really exciting is that smaller-scale models are now approaching the performance of large-scale closed-source models for…

Your Mac can run AI that holds its own against cloud models for the everyday stuff: chatting, making images, reading documents, transcribing voice. The hardware got there a while ago. The software to actually use it locally mostly didn't, so I built Off Grid. Download a model and it all runs on your machine. Ask it something on a flight with no wifi. Summarize a confidential document that never leaves your laptop. Run a hundred image generations in a loop and pay nothing, because it's your own GPU doing the work. Swap your paid dictation app for local Whisper. Talk through a coding problem…

Back in April I left the Agents team at Cloudflare because even though I loved the work, I always had the drive to build the apps rather than the libraries. I felt like nobody was building the ideas that I wanted to exist. My biggest drive was wanting my agents to run fully on “the cloud” yet having them on all my machines at the same time. So I ended up building GSV, fully open source. GSV acts as a cloud computer by having a remote file system and a shell environment and trying very hard to pretend to be something close to Unix. There’s a kernel that handles all the primitive operations,…
