A web platform I've written to make it easy for people to share goespatial time series data and display it on animated heatmaps. There's also a social media component that allows you to write comments, follow, share and like data sets that you want to engage with. You can also download the CSV data and embed animations into your own websites. People uploading datasets can also choose to make money by accepting donations. Please check out the home page for more details: https://mapipedia.com Here are some samples of things created with the platform (press the play button to start…

I'm developing a storage system for versioning data at the subfile level, especially well suited for SSDs due to its log-structured COW nature. It implements a novel versioning algorithm called sliding snapshot, a diff-algorithm which makes use of our stable record-identifiers and optionally hashes, another diff algorithm for importing similar XML-documents as a versioned resource as well as novel XPath axis to navigate not only in space, but also in time. Recently, I've implemented a higher level, asynchronous REST-API with Kotlin (Coroutines) and Vert.x in a seperate module. The system is…

I've recently been working with real-time geoJSON data at a rate of 50+ queries per second. SaaS solutions can be prohibitively expensive at this rate, thus, I created go-reverse-geo. Data is pulled from geonames.org and is stored in MongoDB (a requirement of my current project). It is very much a work-in-progress (I wrote it this morning). Hope someone finds it useful. https://paranoia.dev/vivi/go-reverse-geo

Sup HN, So a couple of months ago I posted my OSINT app ShadowBroker here and got WAY more attention than I expected. Some of the feedback was brutal, but honestly, a lot of it was right, and it made the project a lot better. And sure, I had a blast tracking billionaire jets and yachts or discovering GPS jamming in Ukraine was a thrill, and so was watching CCTV feeds from London, along with ships, satellites, conflict zones, etc., but eventually it dawned on me…where does my OSINT dashboard actually go from there? What good is all of the telemetry if people cannot communicate with each other…

I've been building a bunch of US geography tools/games/visualizations and thought folks on HN might like this one. There are also drive-time and bike-time tools available on the same page. For folks interested, all of the data comes from OpenStreetMap and the US Census at the moment - OSM for routing and points interest and the US Census for population data. Anonymous users can use it 5x/day. I put up a waitlist page to gauge interest in a paid version but there's no way for the public to make an account - feel free to bypass the limits in an incognito tab. The site is US-only…

Linux Foundation survey says 70-90% of modern software constitute OSS code. Yet we are stuck with tools that scan only for vulnerabilities in 3rd party libraries and that too with high degree of false positives. I built `vet` for policy and data driven analysis of 3rd party packages that goes beyond only vulnerability and allows codifying organisational policies related to OSS consumption. https://github.com/safedep/vet Looking forward to feedback and suggestions from HN :)

I built Bugsink because I wanted error tracking I could run myself, without maintaining a complex stack. It runs with pip install or a single Docker container, stores events locally (SQLite, MySQL, or Postgres), and is easy to run and keep running. It’s API compatible with the Sentry SDKs, so you can keep your existing client setup. Bugsink focuses on error tracking only and is fast enough to process millions of events per day on modest hardware. The 1.5 release introduces sourcemaps support: https://www.bugsink.com/blog/bugsink-1.5-introducing-sourcem... Can't you just…

Hello HN, I've just released a new migration tool for Go that mimics the functionality of Ruby on Rails migrations. It's designed to help Go developers manage database schema changes with ease. This allows you several benefits: - Write type-safe migrations - Auto down of migrations whenever it's possible - Easy backfill even with business logic because it's Go code - Painless integration with existing schema - sql.DB compatible and driver agnostic (it uses your driver) I have a pretty complete API to manage Postgres schema and I am working on the SQLite one (a little more complicated due to…

Hello HN, I made a website where you can find toilets nearby on a map. It has data for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I fetched the data from openstreetmap with overpass API, cleaned it up and stored it in a supabase DB. In case there was no address, i used nominatim API to geocode it. Feel free to ckeck it out. Happy for feedback. Jan

There's also a social media component that allows you to write comments, follow, share and like data sets. You can also download the CSV data and embed animations into your own websites. I initially posted about Mapipedia in March 2019. I've taken a lot of the feedback on board and done a major overhaul of the site as well adding a lot of new features. Hi folks, I’m one of the maintainers and co-founder of the Go OSS project Permify (https://github.com/Permify/permify), an open-source authorization infrastructure inspired by Google Zanzibar. I would like to share a post where we aimed to provide a brief overview of how we integrated WASM with Golang to provide a richer user experience in our open-source playground. You can use the playground to create and test any authorization logic in a browser. The playground has three main sections: Schema: to model your authorization logic through our domanin specific language we…
