Hello everyone!, this is a app I have being working on recently. I know there are number of HN readers on android. But couldn't find a one suitable for daily use. So I started developing this app. News articles, comments open in default browser of the device. Click on title of the item to open the article and anywhere else to open comments. Pull down to refresh. Swipe left and right to change the tabs. This is only the first phase of application. Lot of functions yet to be implement (you can read more in Google play listing). I got fed up with the news reader apps out there so I decided to make my own. Its a simple concept where it tracks all your favorite news sources for new posts and the social shares it received. Then it ranks it HN/Reddit style using social shares as upvotes. It's not meant to be alternative to HN, just a focused way to track your favorite sources. Why another android HN app? I simply wasn't happy with the current solutions, I wanted something simple that I can read the news from the front page. The goal on this app is to improve the readability and ease the browsing of the links. Also readability.com web services are used like alternative for the external links. Since I got an iPad I was looking for a better Hacker News reading experience than the one you can get using the web version. I built this app because I really enjoyed "Pulse" but I felt it lacked a few things. I wanted a web-based version, I wanted my news articles grouped together by topic, and I wanted an easy way to share with other people. It it always bugged me when I read or share an article, the discussion lives separately from the article. I imagined being able to add Google-Docs or Notion style comments on any website. We save a snapshot of the website and allow adding discussions that live side-by-side and directly reference parts of the article. Yesterday I decided I wanted to experiment with different ways of reading HN. After considering a few options, I settled on a Mac app and spent a couple of hours planning/sketching on paper. HN, With an overwhelming amount of tech news being reported every day - I have always struggled to find the time to read the articles, even when I want to. So I created a solution for myself where I extract key points of the articles and present them as bullet points, for readability.
