High Precision Astrology python Library

This is a Python (with Rust backend) library for high accuracy orbit calculation of the entire known catalog of asteroids. It is a full N-Body integrator, including lots of additional physics, such as relativistic effects, non-spherical gravitational fields of planets, masses of large asteroids, and a number of non-gravitational forces such as radiation pressure. The design goal is essentially JPL Horizons on your laptop, but all asteroids at once. I began this project while I worked at Caltech on a NASA mission called NEO Surveyor (which is a space telescope designed to survey Near Earth…

Hi all, we recently open sourced the first version of Hashquery, a Python library which lets you model analytics, DRY up common logic, and execute it against a database or warehouse. We were originally rendering SQL directly for all our queries, but that spiraled out of control with more complex analysis; the SQL needed to be changed sporadically for each new database dialect (BigQuery, Redshift, Aethena, Postgres, etc etc) and the SQL fragments were very challenging to reuse (and so fragments were copy-pasted all over). ~~~ Advantages we think it has over writing SQL by hand: - Queries are…

Hello HN! My name is Rémy and I recently published an astronomy dashboard where everything is open source: the code of the website, the framework it is based on and the library that computes astronomical data. For the last few years, I have been developing the Ruby library Astronoby (https://github.com/rhannequin/astronoby) with as much dedication and perseverance I could while I don't have any scientific academic background. My end goal was to use this library and build a website that not only provides as much data as possible, but let anyone access and understand how it…

I've made a small Python library, designed for quick-and-easy prototyping of machine learning models. It's built on top of scikit-learn, to serialize and deserialize data from the forms you're likely to have, to the format used in scikit-learn. https://github.com/madman-bob/Smart-Fruit It's pretty bare-bones at the moment, but I thought I'd see if there was any interest before spending too much time on it. Let me know what you think.

Hey HN, I’m a physicist turned quant. Some friends and I 'built' SymDerive because we wanted a symbolic math library that was "Agent-Native" by design, but still a practical tool for humans. It boils down to two main goals: 1. Agent Reliability: I’ve found that AI agents write much more reliable code when they stick to stateless, functional pipelines (Lisp-style). It keeps them from hallucinating state changes or getting lost in long procedural scripts. I wanted a library that enforces that "Input -> Transform -> Output" flow by default. 2. Easing the transition to Python: For many…

I don't always all-caps, but when I do, it's because every word is an acronym. The NASA HORIZONS[1] system is a telnet service that provides planetary data and ephemeris tables, which are basically coordinate-time plots for celestial bodies. It's pretty archaic and somewhat difficult to use, especially since it just dumps out text tables and you have to parse it to do anything with it. Some projects, e.g. KDE Marble, use it as a data source and typically just consume it with a little procedural code to get what they need. I wanted to provide a full-fledged library for it so that you can…

Hi HN! I’ve spent the summer of the past 2 years building The Atlas, a procedural universe simulator that generates 1 sextillion galaxies (10²¹) from a single mathematical seed. Think No Man’s Sky meets theoretical physics, but running entirely in your browser. Everything is purely deterministic, the universe is calculated from SHA-256 hashed seeds using the golden ratio as primordial constant. There’s no database, no pre-saved data, just pure math. Time itself is treated as a coordinate, so the universe exists as a 4D structure where any moment can be computed on demand. Shut it down for…
