The publishers web page is https://leanpub.com/haskell-cookbook The book is for sale for a minimum price of $4, available to read online, and the PDF, Kindle, and iPad versions are released under a Creative Commons share and share alike with attribution, no commercial reuse license so you can share with your friends (legally, and with my blessings). I have released books before with a free version and still made enough in sales to support writing new books.

The book page links to a blog post that explains how I got about it (and has a link to sample content), but the TL&DR is that I could not find a lot of books that were on "our" history _and_ were larded with technical details. I started writing this book 10 years ago in JavaScript, got through a few chapters (asymptotic notation, basic techniques, start of sorting), and then abandoned it. Recently I picked it back up, converted everything to TypeScript, and used AI (Zenflow [1] + Claude Opus 4.6) to complete the remaining chapters. Hey HN, this is a small Haskell learning project that I wanted to share. It's just a website where you can see how many people write the exact same text as you (thought it was a fun idea). It's built using Scotty, SQLite, Redis and Caddy. Currently it's running in a small DigitalOcean droplet (1 Gb RAM).
