Hey HN, this is a small Haskell learning project that I wanted to share. It's just a website where you can see how many people write the exact same text as you (thought it was a fun idea). It's built using Scotty, SQLite, Redis and Caddy. Currently it's running in a small DigitalOcean droplet (1 Gb RAM). Hey HN! I originally built “html-to-markdown” back in 2018 (while still in high school) to handle complex HTML conversions where other libraries struggled. Now, I’ve released v2 — a complete rewrite designed to handle even more edge cases. It supports entire websites with a high accuracy. Example use: I’ve used it in my RSS reader to strip HTML down to clean Markdown, similar to the "Reader Mode" in your Browser. It can be used as a Golang package or as an CLI. Sabela is a reactive notebook for Haskell. The name is the Ndebele word for "to respond." Cells respond to each other on change. Initially it was meant as a tool for working with data but it has turned out to have a lot of pedagogical value outside of data analysis work. This is rather a mature project. It began out of curiosity: I wanted to test if Haskell FFI was powerful and expressive enough to interconnect C and Haskell code flawlessly. Particularly, if C strings generated inside Nginx can be shared within Haskell code and what must be done to respect their lifetimes etc. Recently, I released version 3.2.0 with revamped README (with a lot of examples) and a new approach to building Haskell handlers using the modernized cabal v2-build for dependencies.

While working on a proof of concept project, I kept hitting Claude's token limit 30-60 minutes into their 5-hour sessions. The accumulating context from the codebase was eating through tokens fast. I've been working on this small, slightly weird expression-oriented programming language for a little while now and feel ready to share it with others. I use it pretty often now in my day-to-day and work life, as a scratchpad for doing a bit of quick math or picking some pieces of data out of a JSON payload.
