In my exploration of OpenAI, I just created a domain-name search that takes business description as an input, and generates interesting domain names for it. It then uses DNSimple API to check if .com is available. In my view it is a much easier way to find a suitable domain, as the AI thinks of a much large pool of possible names than my own brain. SmartyNames found its own name, using the tool itself. Hope you enjoy it! https://smartynames.com/

Namealong takes your query, pairs it up with 4000+ other words, suffixes, and prefixes, and shows you available .com domains by checking the ICANN zone file. That's fast, but semi-inaccurate, so when you hover over or click on domain names, an additional WHOIS check is done to verify availability. If this all sounds familiar, Lean Domain Search used to do this exact same thing, but earlier this year they added .blog domains to the search results with no way to filter them out, making the tool basically useless for .com searches.

Hey everyone! Years ago, one of my favorite domain search tools, Lean Domain Search [1], was acquired by Automattic. Unfortunately, that's when the "enshitification" began, particularly when they started forcing the `.blog` TLD in search results. After discovering the simplicity of RDAP lookups, which can be done by fetching a JSON response directly from the client (e.g., `https://rdap.verisign.com/com/v1/domain/ycombinator.com`), I decided it was finally time to build my own solution.
