Diceright is a virtual tabletop for playing dungeons and dragons with friends on the web. You can watch a quick overview of how it works here: https://tinyurl.com/diceright. And there’s a list of the main features right on the homepage. It’s a Ruby on Rails site that makes heavy use of action cable for keeping the maps and tokens in sync for all players. On the front end, I’m using HTML canvas for the maps and a js library called fabric.js for interacting with the canvas. Otherwise, just jQuery on the front end. I optimized it all to work on mobile too. I built this as a side…

Hello Hacker News. I'm Marc, one half of the team that created skip.tools. Skip is a tool that transpiles your SwiftUI iOS app into a Kotlin Jetpack Compose app, and enables you to use a single language to create a complete app that reaches the entire mobile marketplace. What it is: Skip stands in contrast to other cross-platform development tools like Flutter, React Native, and Xamarin, in that it enables the creation of genuinely native applications for both of the dominant mobile platforms. It doesn't embed a separate engine or runtime into your app, but instead lets you use pure Swift…

We at Semicolon Developers have released two player version of Nepali board game Baghchal[1]. It can be played at: http://obaghchal.com Game is working fine in Chrome and Firefix latest builds. There are few glitches but if you have ever played Baghchal I'd love to hear your feedback on the game play online. I'd like to credit HN for all the encouragement. I have promised myself to post a Show HN thread with some cool work and this is our first attempt. Deployment wise I am having some difficulties in setting up server. I think we'd have problem scaling it up. If any Nepali hacker is…

Hey HN! I've been building tooling for voice-driven apps over the past few months, as part of a hardware project. Someone suggested adapting the DSL to play Dungeons and Dragons. So, here we are! What is it? An AI-powered, voice-controlled D&D adventure set in the world of Dvorak. Talk to characters, explore locations, and shape the story using your words. Use your microphone to interact with the AI dungeon master. Explore freely – interrupt, ask questions, or take unexpected actions. If you make friends at the tavern, you can also just hang out there and chat. Hint: Talk to the bartender to…

Hi HN, I’m the founder of Pangea. We’ve built a developer platform where you can easily add security to your code through a simple set of APIs - features like authentication, secrets management, audit logging, redaction of PII, restricting embargoed countries, known threat actor intelligence, etc. With the ChatGPT and LLM explosion, we thought of ways to reduce the risk of both the inputs and outputs from these services. Our NextJS sample app adds a security layer on top of ChatGPT with various security services that you can implement quickly. It’s basically a front end to the OpenAI API…

I built a dedicated roleplay chat UI for abliteration.ai: https://abliteration.ai/roleplay The backend is OpenAI-compatible (/v1/chat/completions), with usage-based pricing and no prompt/output retention by default (details on the site). The UI is meant for long-form character chats and interactive fiction, without needing a local frontend. Docs (including a roleplay backend guide and a SillyTavern integration guide): https://abliteration.ai/docs Would love feedback on missing RP features, UX rough edges, and what you would expect from a…

Hi HN! My cofounder and I just launched PaletAI, a mobile app for playing and creating AI-generated games. What PaletAI does: 1. Create – Describe the game you want to make, AI makes it, no coding. 2. Share – Hit publish and it appears on our TikTok-style home feed. 3. Play - Swipe through thousands of games, save the ones you like. Basically it’s a platform for “vibe‑coded” mobile games. What problems we’re solving: - Creators: No‑code tools still leave you with “now what?” (hosting, marketing). With PaletAI, you just hit “Publish” - Players: Finding quick casual games today means store…

Hi HN, I recently got the AnkiMobile app for iOS for Mandarin. It was buggy and feature-lacking in my opinion, so I made a nice looking Anki-compatible alternative app, with more features. It uses a tuned FSRS5 algorithm and supports image occlusion out of the box. You can import your existing Anki decks into it or create a new one. Pretty quick to add cards with the image feature. I'm using it right now and will add more to it so let me know what you think. FYI, it has a one-off purchase of $14.99 to unlock it for lifetime (no taksies backsies) after a test period of seven days.
