Products that do what News geolocation website does
The idea: The idea is to create a news aggregator that geolocates the news, it analyses the news and displays an article on a street/city/region (location in general) if it is mentioned in that article. The website will later give you notifications about what is mentioned in the news nearby. The current situation of the project: For now I have a minimum viable product, I have the website up and running that shows how the news will be displayed on a map. What I am asking: It will be really very nice of you if you can give me feedback, any feedbacks even negative ones are really more…

We’ve launched NewsCatcher’s Hyperlocal News API to provide city-level news feeds for market analysis, localized apps, and data analytics. Why We Built It: Aggregating hyperlocal news is complex. Local news comes from diverse sources, many covering national topics, making it hard to isolate local events like transit updates, crime, extreme weather alerts, or infrastructure projects. Searching by location alone can lead to irrelevant results, especially with city names that overlap or match common words (e.g., Orange, Lake). What It Does: Our API provides precise, location-based news by…

Originally begun as a sort of 'weekend' project, it has been a bit of a struggle, but finally I think we've brought it to a state where I can request reviews, feedback etc.: http://GetLocalNe.ws Please feel free to report bugs/problems or post feedback/suggestions on any aspect of it. Geolocation accuracy (or inaccuracy) reports will be highly appreciated. Quality of data is being rigorously assessed now, but the current data should be at least reasonably okay. Please let me know otherwise. Work on identifying and integrating XML/RSS feeds from news sources is on now and this will be…

I just redesigned an old (1 year) project and would appreciate any feedback. The site has no real purpose other than allowing you to explore the large amount of imagery gathered by Google. You can make it less random by choosing a country, or indeed any geographical area (cities etc.) http://www.mapcrunch.com Thanks

One year ago, I downloaded the news.arc code and decided that I would teach myself programming by building a better aggregator. At that time, I had some rudimentary HTML knowledge, and little FORTRAN under my belt. I knew that I wanted an aggregator that could support a wide range of submissions, and one that could scale without losing quality for the user. Hubski is what I have to show for my time and effort. The easiest way to describe Hubski is to say that it uses a commenting system akin to HN or Reddit, but uses a sharing scheme like Twitter. You have a personal feed comprised of the…
