24 alternatives to Notepad.exe – macOS editor for Swift and Python (now Linux runtime)
I recently released version 1.4 of Notepad.exe, my editor built for macOS. The goal of the app is to let you prototype ideas in Swift or Python with minimal setup - write code, hit Run, skip project scaffolding. This release adds support for a Linux runtime/subsystem, so you can write on macOS and execute snippets in a Linux environment. I’d love to hear any feedback or answer any questions: would a tool like this fit your workflow? What friction remains?

As a native Windows user who switched to macOS a few years back, one thing I never got over was the simplicity and usefulness of the old school Notepad app. This app aims to recreate that very same experience, cross-platform and easily installable as a PWA. I've been using this for personal use for around 2 years and I figured it was time to share it with the world. Criticism, issues and PRs are welcome. Thanks!

I'm building an online text-editor editor to write and save scientific documents fast. Here's a video of how it works: https://youtu.be/Hyk8CvCdEWE As an engineering student, I hated that handwriting was the only viable way to do fast or impromptu scientific writing. It would be the only way to take quick notes in class or in a lab, write an assignment, or create a presentation. Here's a few things I witnessed in academia: * Unsuitable editors: Students attempt to resort to text editors unoptimized for science, such as Notion or Word, to take notes and write assignments. *…

I'm not the author of the app (nor i have any connection with them, just a random user). iA Writer and Writer Pro aren't well suited for me as a developer. They feel quite "strange" to me. Mou is a good option (free too) but still missing some features. So far this, this editor is the most complete user-friendly. Hope it helps!

Hello everybody! We (lukeflo and me) have made a little notes management tui written in bash based on fff by Dylan Araps, which we've improved a lot to make it a notes management tui. It uses your editor of choice to edit and create notes, you can fuzzy search your notes and search them by tags you give them by writing them in the markdown yaml or emacs org header. All in all it turned out to be a surprisingly good project that we now want to refine after just releasing v1.0, so any feedback, suggestions or criticism is very welcome!
