NovaVoice▲578Hey HN, Today I’d like to show what I’ve recently built with my 2 friends. We’ve called it Nova. The idea is to built all-purpose AI Voice Assistant, which is able to interact with mail, to-do apps, messengers and socials, task trackers, apps like UberEats, Notion and some other daily apps. How we decided to work on it: We’ve recently read YC Request for startups Summer25 and were inspired by the idea of AI Voice Assistant for Mail by YC partner Tyler Bosmeny. What we’ve got: We’ve gone a bit further than Assistant for mail only and connected Gmail, Todoist, Google Calendar, and…

I built a voice agent from scratch that averages ~400ms end-to-end latency (phone stop → first syllable). That’s with full STT → LLM → TTS in the loop, clean barge-ins, and no precomputed responses. What moved the needle: Voice is a turn-taking problem, not a transcription problem. VAD alone fails; you need semantic end-of-turn detection. The system reduces to one loop: speaking vs listening. The two transitions - cancel instantly on barge-in, respond instantly on end-of-turn - define the experience. STT → LLM → TTS must stream. Sequential pipelines are dead on arrival for natural…

Luke from ElevenLabs here. We just released Scribe Realtime v2, our new real-time Speech to Text model. We rebuilt it from the ground up around a new architecture that uses predictive transcription – it anticipates the next likely word before it’s spoken. That makes it both fast (around 150 ms latency) and highly accurate. Scribe v2 Realtime outperforms every low latency transcription model across 30 commonly used EU and Asian languages – 93.5% accuracy, compared to Gemini 2.5 Flash (91.4%), GPT-4o MiniTranscribe (90.7%), and Deepgram Nova 3 (85%). It supports 90+ languages including…

Hey HN, We built ClawdTalk to let AI agents operate over live phone calls. Most agents today live in chat windows. The moment you try to use them over voice, things break: latency matters, interruptions happen, and the agent has to execute tools while the conversation is still live. ClawdTalk connects your Clawdbot to the phone network. The agent gets a real phone number. It can make and receive calls and run the same tools it uses in chat, but under real-time voice constraints. One of the reasons this is hard is infrastructure. Many voice stacks stitch together separate telephony, speech,…

Hi HN folks ! I am the author of AVA, a self hosted AI Voice Agent that plugs into Asterisk/Freepbx so you own all the aspects of an AI Voice agent in your own infrastructure. It uses Asterisk native Audiosocket/RTP with python engine to run STT,LLM and TTS loop. The project support several full providers openai, gemini, grok, elevenlabs out of the box and also provides options to build custom pipelines by choosing different stt tts and llm. It also supports full local agent if you have a GPU with 25GB RAM which enables realtime conversation along with tool calling. I started this…

hey! this is oliver and jonathan and today, we’re launching fixa — a free, open source package to test voice agents. fixa uses a voice agent to call your voice agent and an LLM to evaluate how the conversation went. here's a demo: https://youtu.be/LAW1wW6SjTo this was initially a paid feature of our platform, but the monetization model didn't really make sense. our customers were paying us for all the components of our agent (STT + LLM + TTS + markup) in addition to their own agent – even though many of them have preferred vendors, volume discounts, and credits. we came to the…

For a fun side weekend project we gave our own OpenClaw agent called "Mahmut" a face and had a live interview with it. It went surprisingly well. Here's a sneak peek from the interview: https://x.com/ptservlor/status/2024597444890128767 User speaks, Deepgram transcribes it, OpenClaw Gateway routes it to your agent, ElevenLabs turns the response into speech, and LemonSlice generates a lip synced avatar from the audio. Everything streams over LiveKit in real time. Latency is about 1 to 2 seconds end to end depending on the LLM. The lip sync from LemonSlice honestly…
