Hey HN! We're shipping Octofriend today, a cute coding assistant that can swap between GPT-5, Claude, local or open-source LLMs, etc mid-conversation as needed. It handles reasoning tokens (including encrypted ones from OpenAI and Anthropic) really well, and includes a couple of custom-trained ML models to fix minor diff edit and JSON encoding errors that we've also open-sourced. Hi HN, Code Llama was released, but we noticed a ton of questions in the main thread about how/where to use it — not just from an API or the terminal, but in your own codebase as a drop-in replacement for Copilot Chat. Without this, developers don't get much utility from the model. This concern is also important because benchmarks like HumanEval don't perfectly reflect the quality of responses. Single-agent LLMs suck at long-running complex tasks. We’ve open-sourced a multi-agent orchestrator that we’ve been using to handle long-running LLM tasks. We found that single LLM agents tend to stall, loop, or generate non-compiling code, so we built a harness for agents to coordinate over shared context while work is in progress. How it works: 1. Gigacode is an experimental, just-for-fun project that makes OpenCode's TUI + web + SDK work with Claude Code, Codex, and Amp. It's not a fork of OpenCode. Instead, it implements the OpenCode protocol and just runs `opencode attach` to the server that converts API calls to the underlying agents.
