Products that do what Offline SOS signaling+recovery app for disasters/wars does

A couple of months ago, I built this app to help identify people stuck under rubble. First responders have awesome tools. But in tough situations, even common folks need to help. After what happened in Myanmar, we need something like this that works properly. It has only been tested in controlled environments. It can also be improved; I know BLE is not _that_ effective under rubble. If you have any feedback or can contribute, don't hold back.

Hey HN, I am building an open source platform to make on-call better and less stressful for engineers. We are building a tool that can silence alerts and help with debugging and root cause analysis. We also want to automate tedious parts of being on-call (running runbooks manually, answering questions on Slack, dealing with Pagerduty). Here is a quick video of how it works: https://youtu.be/m_K9Dq1kZDw I hated being on-call for a couple of reasons: * Alert volume: The number of alerts kept increasing over time. It was hard to maintain existing alerts. This would lead to a lot…

I have a bad memory and can't memorize some important numbers, so I created this project. I've always been concerned about being without my phone (getting robbed - which is common in Brazil - running out of battery, having it break, etc.), so I decided to create a page that sends SMS messages (LLM-summarized) and emails with more detailed information such as geolocation, IP address, and the full message. It’s a simple page that allows sending one or more messages, with recipients being myself and other people - for example, in case I or they need help or need to communicate something…

Thanks!

I go on a lot of backcountry trips where I barely get cell service. If my group splits, nobody knows knows where anyone is until you regroup at camp or at your destination. You can buy Garmin radios or try to set up an ATAK, but ATAK is Android-only and assumes you have a TAK Server running somewhere to make use of all of the functionality. Cool tools themselves, but expensive to set up correctly. I just wanted two iPhones to share their location directly over Bluetooth when cell coverage was lacking. Red Grid Link does that. Start a session, and anyone nearby running the app shows up on…

Signal was a brilliant app. It can send messages with rich media, host group chats, and even do voice and video calls, all with the peace of mind that comes from a proper secure messaging app. The best part was that you could still send messages to people who don't use Signal. Signal was the messaging app everyone wants - all the benefits of iMessage, without being siloed in one particular ecosystem. Sometime leading up to October of 2022, the folks at the Signal foundation lost the plot. Signal has since dropped support for SMS, and is inexplicably adding "stories" to their personal…
