Recently, I watched Iron Man and was inspired by the scene where Tony Stark claps twice to activate his computer. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT2b5KzMoC0&t=101s) I thought, “I want to try that!". So I wrote a simple script that opens Google Chrome — and optionally a local file — when I clap twice. Technically, I recorded sample clap sounds and analyzed their frequency content in MATLAB (most energy was around 1.4–1.8kHz). I know mentioning Michael Seibel is almost cheating, but this week he demonstrated the "leaky pipes" concept to me. Hey all, I created http://cueued.com that works as a remote for a collaborative spotify queue where the users can upvote and downvote music they want to hear next. Only the person who is playing the music needs to have spotify premium! And if you're far from your friends (and have premium) and want to listen together, you can go to the settings and click Connect to Room, and you all can listen to the same music remotely. Have you ever played a game or watched a TV show/movie where certain actions like button presses or other events produced different sounds? This is usually done for audience's benefit (more action on screen) or in a game, to enforce the game loop. Initially, I was interested in using YouTube videos to learn languages using the simple shadowing technique. It sounds fancy, but it's simply listening and repeating.
