Your developer portfolio, running in the terminal

I made a built-from scratch Wayland Compositor to display any GUI app* in the terminal! I think there is a lot of unexplored potential in custom Wayland compositors, a lot of really cool things you can embed existing applications into! So, I started with embedding apps into the terminal because that is the easiest input/output (output is just utf-8 and I use the great `chafa` library for that, and I just read from stdin for the input). If you have any other ideas for cool Wayland compositors, let me know. I purposedly wrote 80% the app in Typescript to appeal to the most developers and…

Hi HN! Thanks for your attention to my post. It was a big challenge to run most of Node.js packages in browser, fast moreover. Virtual File system, resolve import/export. I got cold many times, depressions, burned out, yet still alive and finished it. Many guys helped me with an advice. Many users give a lot of positive feedback. There are 200,000 monthly unique users. I work full time now because of the freemium business model. To be honest - I am happy after many years of hard work.

Colin here, creator of Nub. I’ve had the general shape of this in mind for years. Nub runs your code with stock `node`, augmented with a `--require` preload hook[0] that adds a transpiler (oxc-powered, packaged as a Node-API add-on), registers a module resolution hook[1], and injects polyfills as needed for APIs like `Worker`, `Temporal`, etc. All purely additive, your code ultimately runs using Node’s actual engine & stdlib implementations. Hey HN, I'm a developer and long-time OSS contributor. Over the years, I've implemented tons of headless CMSs to give product and marketing teams more autonomy. But there's always been a gap with CMSs when it comes to user interfaces. I kept running into the same issues: poor developer experience, bad performance, no support for dynamic content, and needing vendors for AB testing or personalization, which just gets messy and expensive. Versioning? One change and things break or need manual fixes. Accessing your own data? Good luck unless you're ready to pay extra. So, I built a content API…

Current AI-assisted CLI tools are often part of larger systems and work better on Linux. I built llm-term to address these. It's a Rust-based tool that compiles into a single binary file. You only need to download the binary, add it to your PATH, and configure your OpenAI key to get started. While llm-term offers an option for gpt-4o, it works great with gpt-4o-mini. So it's not costly. I appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Hey guys! I just released a NPM package to integrate a visual scripting editor into any node project (React, Vue, Angular... you name it). Basically, the goal is to provide your users a way to customize, automate, create new features for your product. Just like an open-source community, but without the barrier of code. Here's the homepage of the project: https://luna-park.app And a small tutorial for visual scripting: https://luna-park.app/challenge

TermDOM renders a real DOM styled with real CSS to terminal cells. You build a document with createElement or innerHTML, or any frontend web framework, and it automatically produces colored ANSI output, with browser-style layout, text wrapping and flexbox included. The library can also be used to translate HTML to static ANSI. Full disclaimer: This project was started a year ago and written entirely by Claude. I mainly provided QA and words of encouragement (yelling).

Agents can run non-interactive commands, but they often fail once a workflow needs a real terminal (SSH sessions, installers, debuggers, REPLs, TUIs). I built term-cli so an agent can drive an interactive terminal session (keystrokes in, output out, wait for prompts). And it comes with agent skill for easy integration. It supports in-band file transfer: the agent can move files through the terminal stream itself (same channel as the interactive session), which is useful when the agent doesn’t have scp/sftp, shared volumes, or direct filesystem access across boundaries. Recent example:…

Hello, we're the Treenix team. We're building typed low-code runtime where humans and agents collaborate to build applications and workflows. Write a simple TypeScript class with methods, and Treenix automatically delivers admin interface, storage, API and MCP, access rules, UI form and audit trail. Views in Treenix are reactive, data-bound, and synced across all clients. They also support display contexts: data can render differently depending on the situation — a table in one place, a list in another. You can register multiple Views for the same data type, and the view engine picks the…
