24 alternatives to Pangolin – Open source alternative to Cloudflare Tunnels
Pangolin is an open source self-hosted tunneled reverse proxy management server with identity and access control, designed to securely expose private resources through encrypted WireGuard tunnels running in user space. We made Pangolin so you retain full control over your infrastructure while providing a user-friendly and feature-rich solution for managing proxies, authentication, and access, all with a clean and simple dashboard web UI. I have been working on Octelium for quite a few years now but it was open sourced only by late May 2025. Octelium, as described more in detail in the repo's README, is simply an open source, self-hosted, unified platform for zero trust resource access that is primarily meant to be a modern alternative to corporate VPNs and remote access tools. It can operate as a remote access/corporate VPN (i.e. alternative to Twingate, Tailscale, OpenVPN Access Server, etc...), a ZTNA/BeyondCorp platform (i.e. alterntive to Cloudflare Access, Teleport, Google BeyondCorp, etc...), and it can also…

Over the past couple of months, I've been working on connet. At this point, it is working pretty smoothly (in what I use it for), so I wanted to share it with more people and see what they think. I know many other similar/reverse proxy solutions exist - like https://github.com/fatedier/frp, https://github.com/rapiz1/rathole, and a bunch more you can find at https://github.com/anderspitman/awesome-tunneling. However, I wanted to try and put my own little peer-to-peer twist on it. Thanks for checking it out, and sharing any…

Hi HN, I’m building Corviont, a self-hosted offline maps appliance (tiles + routing + search) for edge/on-prem devices. Hosted demo (no install): https://demo.corviont.com/ Self-host (Docker Compose repo): https://github.com/corviont/monaco-demo Docs: https://www.corviont.com/docs What’s inside: - Vector tiles served locally (PMTiles) - Routing served locally (Valhalla) - Offline geocoding/search + reverse (SQLite Nominatim-based index) - MapLibre UI wired to the local endpoints After the initial image + data pulls, it runs fully…

Hi HN! We’re Yann, Edouard, and Bastien from Koyeb (https://www.koyeb.com/). We’re building a platform to let you deploy full-stack apps on high-performance hardware around the world, with zero configuration. We provide a “global serverless feeling”, without the hassle of re-writing all your apps or managing k8s complexity [1]. We built Scaleway, a cloud service provider where we designed ARM servers and provided them as cloud servers. During our time there, we saw customers struggle with the same issues while trying to deploy full-stack applications and APIs resiliently. As…

I was surprised to discover there isn't an open-source initiative for a Cloudflare Warp client that fully supports their MASQUE protocol. MASQUE has the potential to revolutionize traditional VPNs, even in self-hosted environments, but there’s been a gap in the ecosystem. I built a proof-of-concept client using the amazing quic-go library that not only integrates their (for some reason) non-rfc compliant MASQUE but also supports multiple modes of operation. This includes full support for any IP traffic and a proxy mode, making it hopefully flexible. I'd love to hear feedback from the…

LockIn MCP▲116I was tired of how bad distraction blockers are so I built my own. LockIn lets AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) block websites by editing the system hosts file directly via MCP tools (via a secure cloudflare bridge). Why? Because chrome extensions don't work. Blocking it natively makes it unbypassable, and having your agent gatekeep your focus is the ultimate cheat code. Since everyone is using AI agents nowadays, but most people start scrolling or Reddit while waiting for Claude Code to finish, giving them control over your focus solves that. The MCP server exposes four tools:…

This is my second post about Huginn, a tool that I’ve been working on with the generous support of other open source collaborators. Huginn is a light-weight platform for building data-gathering and data-reacting tasks for everyday life. Think of it as an open source Yahoo! Pipes, IFTTT, or Zapier.

Hi HN, I’m the founder of Pangea. We’ve built a developer platform where you can easily add security to your code through a simple set of APIs - features like authentication, secrets management, audit logging, redaction of PII, restricting embargoed countries, known threat actor intelligence, etc. With the ChatGPT and LLM explosion, we thought of ways to reduce the risk of both the inputs and outputs from these services. Our NextJS sample app adds a security layer on top of ChatGPT with various security services that you can implement quickly. It’s basically a front end to the OpenAI API…

Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month). I use this method in particular to test HTTP verification with Let's Encrypt for a SaaS app running on my Mac. Hope this is useful :) Code:…
