Hey HN, I've been working on this side project for the past month. It generates a step-by-step tutorial guide for YouTube videos that you can follow along without watching long videos. Best suited for tutorial videos but can work for other videos aswell. No BS. Just straight to the point. The guides are generated from pure transcript so you don't have to worry about it being AI. It's my first project as a total beginner. Something I had to do inorder to get out of tutorial hell. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you face any problems or bugs. I would try to fix them to the…

Hi HN! I made this because I always forget what I'm trying to learn from YouTube. Test yourself: Can you remember the main concepts from the last (educational) video you watched? So, why not highlight and take notes on YouTube videos, just like in books? That's TubePen. Sign in, replace "youtube" with "tubepen" in your YouTube URL, and you're ready to retain more from your videos. I’d love your feedback! What do you think of my landing page? Use the 10-day free trial and see if it’s useful for you. Thanks!

Hello HN! I'm Jia Yi, a co-founder of FutureNotes (https://www.futurenotes.ai/). Our platform converts videos directly into notes, using traditional machine learning for video parsing (generative AI is still too slow and expensive for the volume of data involved) and LLM technology for text summarization. Here are some samples we produced based on 'Introduction to Deep Learning' by MIT (it's a great lecture series, you may want to check it out!): https://www.futurenotes.ai/samples. As an avid learner, I often turn to videos for knowledge, but over time I…

I’ve been frustrated with PDFs and found arXiv HTML lacking, so I built a fully interactive paper reader. Features: • Hover references, citations, equations • Light/dark mode • Auto-generated dependency graphs for definitions/lemmas/theorems • Table of contents that syncs with scroll • Highlighting + annotations • “Copy raw LaTeX” anywhere Featured paper: Video models are zero-shot learners and reasoners (Veo 3) https://www.sciencestack.ai/arxiv/2509.20328v2

YouTube learning has no structure—your learnings are scattered across random playlists, you're just passively watching without retention, and there's no one to ask when you don't understand something. I built Notetube to solves this by combining organizational tools with AI to create an actual learning system: Organizational layer: Create structured collections by topic/course/skill, track your learning progress with visual dashboards, and set achievable learning goals AI layer: Auto-generated comprehensive notes (3000+ words for 1 hours video) and summaries from any video, key…
