Hello HN, Pietro here! I've been really excited to see the recent buzz around MCP and all the cool things people are building with it. Though, the fact that you can use it only through desktop apps really seemed wrong and prevented me for trying most examples, so I wrote a simple client, then I wrapped into some class, and I ended up creating a python package that abstracts some of the async uglyness. You need: * one of those MCPconfig JSONs * 6 lines of code and you can have an agent use the MCP tools from python. The structure is simple: an MCP client creates and manages the connection and…

Hi HN, I saw one friction point when working as part of a team that uses coding agents extensively - there is nothing to enable coordination between agent used by people in a team. Many times my agent would ask me to decide upon something with a fellow teammate, for which I have to serve as the network layer. So I built Parley where agents can connect to the hub over MCP with their own team-scoped token. An agent addresses a teammate's agent by name and ask questions/handover tasks. Agents can also use file claims to signal what files they are working on, to highlight overlapping work.…

I’ve been building and using agents heavily lately. The Model Context Protocol ecosystem is growing insanely fast, but discovering and configuring new tools is still highly manual. Every time I needed to connect an agent to a new service, I had to browse registries, figure out the transport type, identify required env vars, and manually update "mcp.json" files. So I built MCPfinder. It aggregates servers from the official MCP registry, Glama, and Smithery (around 25,000 combined entries) into a deduplicated, ranked catalog. But the real twist is the DX: MCPfinder is itself an MCP server :D…

Hi everyone, I built cli-use, a small Python tool that turns any MCP server into a native CLI. The idea is simple: HTTP has curl, Docker has docker, Kubernetes has kubectl — MCP should have a shell-native client too. Why I made it: MCP is useful, but using it through agents has overhead: every session pays schema discovery cost every call carries JSON-RPC framing responses are often verbose JSON when the useful output is just a line or two cli-use converts that into a terse CLI so tools can be called like normal shell commands. Example: pip install cli-use cli-use add fs /tmp cli-use fs…

Hi HN -- Since Anthropic announced the Model Context Protocol (MCP) last week [1], I've been excited about giving Claude new capabilities through my custom servers. But while MCP is powerful, implementing the protocol correctly requires a lot of low-level boilerplate code. I found myself wanting something like FastAPI - a high-level framework that would let me focus on building features, not servers. After some hacking, I'm sharing FastMCP: a Pythonic framework for building MCP servers. FastMCP uses decorators to transform normal functions into MCP tools, resources, templates, and prompts,…

We’re open-sourcing a simple way to add “canary tools” to AI agents via MCP honeypots. These are functions your agent should never call during normal operation. If a canary is invoked, you get a high-fidelity signal of prompt-injection, tool hijacking, or lateralization—no heuristics, no extra model calls. What it is: - Go framework exposing decoy tools over MCP that look legitimate (names/params/descriptions), return safe dummy output, and emit telemetry when invoked. - Runs alongside your real tools; ship events to stdout/webhook or your pipeline (Prometheus/Grafana,…

Hello HN, I built this because I wanted to give Claude Desktop access to my Notion workspace without running a flaky local Python script via stdio. This is a Node.js/Express implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that uses SSE (Server-Sent Events) for transport. It’s designed to be stateless and deployable as a container (I'm hosting it on Apify, but it works anywhere with Node). The Stack: TypeScript + Express @modelcontextprotocol/sdk Zod for input validation Bearer Auth for security (since it exposes an HTTP endpoint) Capabilities: It allows the LLM to search pages,…

I built this because I got tired of watching Claude Code read through massive files just to find a few functions. Sourcerer lets AI agents search code semantically and grab exactly the code chunks they need instead of burning tokens on whole files. It uses tree-sitter to parse your codebase and creates a searchable index. So instead of "read auth.py (538 lines)", an agent can search for "user authentication logic" and get back just the relevant functions. TLDR; I built a tool that turns any API into a CLI designed for ai agents --- Got tired of dealing with bloated context windows from MCP servers and skills that stuff entire API docs into the agent's context CLIs fix this, agents run a single command to self-discover everything an API has to offer So, built a tool to generate them for any api. All CLIs are written in Go, fast and lightweight, no dependencies Help text (via the --help flag) is the killer feature: all context for each command/endpoint/parameter is extracted directly from the user-facing API docs and enhanced with…

I built an MCP server that connects coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Codex) to a collaborative workspace where your team and other AI models can review what the agent is planning. The problem: When Claude Code creates an implementation plan, it lives in your terminal session. Nobody else sees it until it becomes a PR. If you want GPT to check the architecture or a teammate to flag issues, you're copy-pasting between windows. This MCP server fixes that. When your agent creates a plan, it gets shared as a collaborative thread in CoChat. Engineers comment on it, other AI models…

Hey HN! One of the biggest limitations of tools like Cursor is that they only have context over the project you have open. We built this MCP to allow you to fetch code context from all of your repos. It uses Sourcebot under the hood, an open source code search tool that supports indexing thousands of repos from multiple platforms. The MCP server leverages Sourcebot's index to rapidly fetch relevant code snippets and inject it into your agents context. Some use cases this unlocks include: - Finding all references of an API across your companies repos to allow the agent to provide accurate…

Hi HN — I'm the creator of FastMCP and wanted to share a new project we've open-sourced called Colin. I obviously love MCP, but I also use skills extremely heavily in my day-to-day work. Being exposed to both has made me very aware of a tension: - Anything with dynamic information, I ship over MCP. This takes work to set up and requires conversational boilerplate to refresh in every conversation. - Anything behavioral, I put in skills. They're lightweight, used automatically, and feel great. But I would never put dynamic information in a skill because keeping it up to date is a pain. And yet…
