24 alternatives to PaywallPro
Hi HN, I’m Jason While building subscription apps over the past few years, I noticed a recurring problem: paywall design often decides the difference between making a living and making nothing. • Two apps in the same category can see 3× different conversion rates just because of how the paywall is designed. • Yet most developers lack real data or examples to guide their decisions. That’s why I built PaywallPro. It helps developers, PMs, and designers: • Explore 46,000+ iOS paywall screenshots across categories. • Track historical versions to see how competitors iterate on pricing, design,…

Hey HN! Christine and Steven here. As a PM and engineer, we’ve both evaluated and purchased a lot of software. One of the biggest frustrations was figuring out how much it would cost us without having to go through the sales process. When we did have a quote, we had no idea if we were getting a good deal or ripped off. We built a site where you can see what other companies are actually paying for SaaS and enterprise software. Buyers contribute prices via quotes, pricing proposals, and other documentation to ensure quality. We unlocked Talkdesk for Show HN users so that you can use the…

Hey HN! It's been a while but I wanted to pop back in to share that we just shipped paywalls: a remotely configurable, App Store compliant, and testable paywall out of the box. We shied away from building this for longer than we should have but it's such a huge component of making more money on the app stores we just had to. It relies on native components, but is configurable from the web, which we think achieves a good balance of flexibility and performance. We're just on iOS for now, Android soon, then hopefully more platforms in time.

FoundersWall▲35I used to be just a blogger. Now I build internet products, still without code, using AI, design, and taste. I was building in public on X for last 2 months. And honestly, I got tired of how it became performative and started to feel fake. I shipped 2 products. Both failed to get any real traction. I kept sneaking into popular builders’ profiles, hoping to learn how they do it. One thing I kept seeing everywhere, product launch directories. I thought here is the scope. So I started building one. Same UI like the rest. Nothing special. Suddenly one day when it was half built, I realized…

Since January, we've accomplished quite a bit. We've successfully launched two productivity tools that people seem to love. The vast majority of ratings are 5/5. Our userbase is growing steadily by about 2,000 people a day. And we haven't done any marketing yet. I wanted to write abou

Hi Hackernews, Last year around February, I found myself having to pay contractors for various services that they provided me as I completed my new home. An occurring question that kept coming up with each conversation was - how do you want me to pay you or do you have “X” payment app on your phone that I can send the cash to? I realized that some preferred Venmo, others preferred cash app - some had neither only relied on PayPal. Being the software engineer that I am, I figured why not build an app where a person can just list all their payment apps and then I can pick which ever worked for…

Hello HN Community, As an ex-founder of a developers-for-hire agency, I was fortunate to build for many different software organizations around the world, and partner with the most talented product teams. One of the things I learned by coding was how painful it is to build & maintain pricing in SaaS. The pricing structure and logic always end up being coupled with the core application code and the billing platform. The product catalog is typically managed in spreadsheets, by the product & monetization teams, while all the possible package types, including the legacy ones, are typically…

Hi HN users, we've built a simple add-on which allows website owner to individually paywall content. Add-on allows website visitor to micropay anywhere between 5 to 15 cents to access a paywalled content. Check up an explanatory GIF at: https://zen.market Ad-generated revenue keeps falling. Some publishers have installed soft paywalls which push website visitors to start monthly subscriptions. However, the way paywalls are usually implemented is unfriendly and discourages visitors from paying. Most publishers report that only 0.1-0.3% of their site's visitors become paying…
