Period tracking that never sees your data. Fully on-device.

Hey HN, after the app I actually used to track my period wanted me to log in and save my data in the cloud, I decided to write my own. Most apps in this area are based on a subscription model and display far too much information anyway. For me, a simple calendar is enough where I can add a few notes if necessary. So that is the result of my work - a simple design and the data is only saved on the smartphone.

I kept trying to explain how important outdoor light is and how most people aren’t getting enough. Eventually I figured that showing is more effective than telling. So we built a free app that uses your Apple Watch or iPhone to automatically track your light exposure throughout the day. It tells you if you’re getting enough, shows you how consistent you are, and rewards habits that support hormone balance. It's in beta on TestFlight, let me know what you think!

Not long after, she started getting eerily specific suggestions on other platforms. Things she hadn’t searched for. Things that felt too close. Somewhere, her cycle had been turned into a data point. That bothered me more than I can explain. These apps promise helpful insights. But in return, they take so much.…

Hi all, over the last 2 years I've been on and off building my app for iPhone. Caloree is basically a freemium calorie tracker/food diary with the ability to only track calories. This sets it apart from the competition which usually allows logging a gazillion macros. This (hopefully) makes it easier for users to log their food. Feedback so far has been great. The app launched today, which I am quite proud of. It's been 2 years next to raising 2 small kids which meant to often sacrifice the project when it was moving along nicely and spending way less time on it than I would have wanted…
