Products that do what Photo Maps View for OneDrive does
Hello, HN. Over the past three decades, my camera photo collection has grown to almost a terabyte, all on OneDrive. I've been wanting a way to view it all on a map, to filter by date/keyword, and to do so on my desktop. So I wrote "Geopic for Onedrive" to show all my photos on a map. It's a small hobby project, all open source. I'd love for people to try it out! or fork it to self-host, or make it run off your own collections other than OneDrive. (If you're someone who pays to keep your photos on Apple iCloud then you can use map view on their app; if you pay for Google Photos then…

For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? Personally this was fueled by my own frustrations when I was apartment hunting in NYC. I was frustrating to have to juggle so many Google Maps tabs when I was evaluating a listing, and it was also annoying to not have full confidence that I was even searching in the right places. I just redesigned an old (1 year) project and would appreciate any feedback. The site has no real purpose other than allowing you to explore the large amount of imagery gathered by Google. You can make it less random by choosing a country, or indeed any geographical area (cities etc.) http://www.mapcrunch.com Thanks

I had this idea where you would see realtime photos on a map, right now this is simply using cat pics, not sure where to take it from here but maybe it's useful to someone. :) GitHub: https://github.com/stagas/worldsnap

Hi HN. I had faced an issue where I wanted to know how a place I was travelling to looked like. Like everyone else I looked at google maps and snap chat too. But Google streetview images were usually old and snapchat snaps lacked control. So I built GeoQuests for anyone who wants to know what’s going on on Earth. You drop a quest at a real location. People see it on the map, go there, and complete it by taking a photo when they’re close enough. The app checks the image's GPS coordinatee, time of the image and if the image fits the request's description. I am using Gemini to verify the image.…
