Hi HN! Thanks for your attention to my post. It was a big challenge to run most of Node.js packages in browser, fast moreover. Virtual File system, resolve import/export. I got cold many times, depressions, burned out, yet still alive and finished it. Many guys helped me with an advice. Many users give a lot of positive feedback. There are 200,000 monthly unique users. I work full time now because of the freemium business model. To be honest - I am happy after many years of hard work.

Colin here, creator of Nub. I’ve had the general shape of this in mind for years. Nub runs your code with stock `node`, augmented with a `--require` preload hook[0] that adds a transpiler (oxc-powered, packaged as a Node-API add-on), registers a module resolution hook[1], and injects polyfills as needed for APIs like `Worker`, `Temporal`, etc. All purely additive, your code ultimately runs using Node’s actual engine & stdlib implementations. Srcbook (”source-book”) is an open-source TypeScript notebook that runs locally, powered by Node.js. It shines for rapid prototyping, code exploration, and collaborating on ideas. It’s inspired by Python’s Jupyter and Elixir’s Livebook. Key features: - Full npm ecosystem access - AI-assisted coding (OpenAI, Anthropic, or local models), it can iterate on the cells for you with a code diff UX that you accept/reject for a given code cell, generate entire Srcbooks, fix compilation issues, etc… - Exports to valid markdown for easy sharing and version control Try it now: `npx srcbook start`…

Fir leverages Golang’s standard library html/template package and a bit of alpinejs to allow building reactive UIs. You start with plain old html and use alpinejs to enhance it to bring no-page-reload interactivity to web apps. The Fir toolkit is designed for Go developers with moderate html/css & js skills who want to progressively build reactive web apps without mastering complex web frameworks. It includes a Go library and an Alpine.js plugin. How it works ? On receiving user-interactions the fir server re-renders html templates and sends it over the wire where the fir client…

Howdy! I've just written a blog post about this, and I figured I would share it here: https://smoores.dev/post/announcing_smoores_epub/. As I've been working on Storyteller[1], I've been developing a library for working with EPUB files, since that's a large amount of the work that Storyteller does. After a friend asked for advice on creating EPUB books in Node.js, I decided to publish Storyteller's EPUB library as a standalone NPM package. I really love the EPUB spec, and I think the Node.js developer community deserves an actively maintained library for working with…
