24 alternatives to Prela – Purely Algebraic Relation Combinators
Prela is an embedded query language based on Tarski's Algebra of Relations. Its queries are concise, clear, and fast. It is implemented by shallow embedding in a host programming language: Prela operators are regular functions in the host. The implementation follows continuation-passing style which compiles to efficient columnar execution.
Prela is an embedded query language built on Tarski's Algebra of Relations, designed for developers who need concise and efficient database queries. It integrates directly into host programming languages as regular… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

I'm excited to share "take 2" of the Prela query language. After sharing the previous version here, I've received some valuable feedback, the main one being the weird unicode-based syntax throwing people off. Prela now has a more familiar SQL-like syntax while adhering to the algebraic principle, which makes the language compositional and controllable, all the while keeping the core engine under 1k lines of code. The engine has also been rewritten from Julia to Rust, resulting in both simpler code and faster performance (not just because "Rust fast Julia slow", but for some pretty deep…

Hi everyone — thanks for your interest in PRQL — let us know any questions or feedback! We're excited to be releasing 0.2[1], the first version of PRQL you can use in your own projects. It wouldn't exist without the feedback we got from HackerNews when we originally posted the proposal. [1]: https://github.com/prql/prql/releases/tag/0.2.0

This extension let's you write PRQL functions in PostgreSQL. When I first saw PRQL on Hacker News a few months ago, I was immediately captivated by the idea, yet equally disappointed that there was no integration for PostgreSQL. Having previous experience with writing PostgreSQL extensions in C, I thought this was a great opportunity to try out the pgrx framework and decided to integrate PRQL with PostgreSQL myself. The maintainers of both PRQL and pgrx were very nice to work with. Thanks guys.

We are excited to share Lantern! Lantern is a PostgreSQL vector database extension for building AI applications. Install and use our extension here: https://github.com/lanterndata/lantern We have the most complete feature set of all the PostgreSQL vector database extensions. Our database is built on top of usearch — a state of the art implementation of HNSW, the most scalable and performant algorithm for handling vector search. There’s three key metrics we track. CREATE INDEX time, SELECT throughput, and SELECT latency. We match or outperform pgvector and pg_embedding…

Two weeks ago I was on my babymoon in Corfu, Greece. While in transit, I was overseeing a GSoC intern submit an important feature to my array database library, Xarray-SQL. He added `to_dataset()`, which completed the roundtrip between thinking of array data in a tabular model simultaneously as gridded rasters (the premise of the project is that every Nd array can be mapped to 2d, where orthogonal dims of the Nd array are just primary keys of a tabular representation). We discussed in chat, now that this feature existed, what demos could we make that would prove this data model works? With…

I spent the past 2 weeks making this toy programming language. I basically forked the Go scanner/parser, and changed the syntax to have functions return a single value. This enable proper Result/Option type to be used as well as propagating errors with an operator. I also wanted to have short "type inferred" anonymous functions to be able to use functions like Map/Reduce/Filter, without having to use 100 characters to specify the types.

Hi! I've been a member of HN for fifteen years so today I'm very excited to share Plato. Plato is an Airtable-like interface for your Postgres or MySQL database. It's an admin panel for devs and non-devs alike to manage your DB. We see teams use Plato for customer support, customer success, ops, etc.. We built Plato because we think more people should be able to build and extend internal tools. We thought it was strange that even though low-code is supposed to democratize development, all of the low-code internal tool builders are marketed to engineers! Airtable is a familiar UI that fits…

Hi HN, I built MOL, a domain-specific language for AI pipelines. The main idea: the pipe operator |> automatically generates execution traces — showing timing, types, and data at each step. No logging, no print debugging. Example: let index be doc |> chunk(512) |> embed("model-v1") |> store("kb") This auto-prints a trace table with each step's execution time and output type. Elixir and F# have |> but neither auto-traces. Other features: - 12 built-in domain types (Document, Chunk, Embedding, VectorStore, Thought, Memory, Node) - Guard assertions: `guard answer.confidence > 0.5 : "Too low"` -…
