Products that do what Pretty Girls at SxSW does

Clickables below: http://hot-spot.me/sxsw.php A couple days ago, I posted a mashup I did of the SxSW panelist directory. I found it a lot easier to pick panels based on what companies people came from. I got no love from YC: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2281104 So let's try this again. This time, pick the pretty people, and if you make it through all the pages, I'll give you a list of the "prettiest" panels based on everyone's votes. When I conceived of this, I wondered how evil it was. But after testing it a bit, I'm pretty confident in saying that pretty people propose great panels!…

this project started at a local hackathon and I spent another 4 or 5 weekends polishing it up. My girlfriend, who I brought along to the event, said she was getting 'tired of her friends asking her what she will be wearing tonight or the brand of the foundation she is using right now'. A digital wardrobe, for the lack of better words. It was a fun project and some of the early adopters are her friends. And since this site is more female oriented, here's my manly profile: http://re.mu/alvin I highly recommend bringing your significant other to a hack event.

I've been wanting a "pro-feel" Twitter stats dashboard for a while now. Inspired by Geckoboard I built TweetBoard.me If you're a Twitter power user you might like it :) Looks best in full screen! Note: There were problems when first launched but now it should be working at the real address: http://TweetBoard.me (Not working on mobile)

It's up and running at : http://www.waywn.com/ The gist of the app is building a community around fashion that fits an individual's style. Understandably, there are similar applications that have launched recently, but we feel that ours is distinct enough to still have a valuable place in the fashion ecosystem. The biggest difference from ours and sites such as Pose, Fashism, Tryiton, Lookbook, etc. is that we want to capture a lot of the forum based discussions and create a community out of them. The existing sites tend to skew heavily female (to the point where the design often alienates…

Background: I noticed that my better half spent a lot of time searching for the same thing (at the time it was maternity dresses) across a whole load of women's fashion stores online. So I built her a site that lets her search some of the top stores from one site. I have an idea for a few social elements that I want to add to try and make more of a community. Any feedback, tips etc welcome. http://shoplove.co.uk

I was lucky enough to have my site trending on Friday (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25872922). It’s an icon site that lists open source icons. I wanted to share some stats on the results after 3 days. Worth noting was that I submitted it on a Friday morning (at which point I went for a walk and a coffee; eek). - 24,997 page views. I (embarrassingly) didn’t have GA set up when I first submitted it, so this is probably missing a few hundred page views - 21 “feedback” emails (half of which were spam). I assume such a high percentage of these were spam because my Feedback…

Got rejected from YC a few times, so I built a site to collect lessons, reflections, and what people would do differently next time. Thought it could be helpful since most founders apply more than once anyway :) Hope it's helpful: https://ycrejection.com/

http://cheergram.com Hey there everyone. I have been reading HN a bit here sans there but haven't ever submitted/commented before. (I am a stay at home mom) Anyway I had this idea a while back and had my husband help me build it. I tried to do most of the designs, though some are stock vectors. Anyway I'd love your feedback on anything that will help this business grow. Thanks so much.

Hey HN, My co-founders and I have been working on a project for the last month or so, and we'd like to get your input on it. We wanted to hear your thoughts on what we're doing - so check out our landing page, and let us know what you think/understand. Does it sounds like something you guys would want to use? http://www.thesharedweb.com/alpha/intro We'll tell you guys more about exactly what we're doing as the conversation evolves, but we just wanted to see what the initial reaction is, and what you understand (i.e. are we describing it in a way that makes sense). Really excited to hear your…

I had this domain for some time and I never got around to make a project for it. This last weekend I finally managed to find a few hours to work on it and I've just finished putting the code into production. The site lets you choose some pictures from your Facebook photos and then it will let other users vote on them, as long as they know your URL. This way you can find your best picture. Some random facts the HN crowd will appreciate: - Technologies: Tornado, mongodb and memcache, served with nginx - The site took around 5 hours to design and write (including time spent in Photoshop and…

We hatched this idea of a Kickstarter + Groupon + Etsy model last week, threw up a super simple landing page that day, then launched a more detailed landing page last night. What do you think of the idea as a whole? The landing page itself? Since the Etsy / crafting world is so large and diverse, we're really trying to focus on the sharing of our site to get the word out. We are doing some minimal google ads and will be doing various tests to see what brings in the best traffic and converts the best. Interestingly enough, good old fashioned twitter searching with hand authored tweets has had…

Here is my ‘project’: http://www.mindwallet.com I’d love to get your feedback. I’m going to put a lot here about how I got here and where I’m going. Hey HN! I built this over the weekend. It is basically an extremely rudimentary crowd sourced recommendation system for anything in any city. I know that I could easily look this information up on Yelp but I thought it might be nicer to simply look up something like "the best steak in new york" and get that information. The database is almost empty but if you look up the "best coffee in ann arbor" you'll get a result which I seeded. Go ahead and contribute what you can. Ill be adding CAPTCHAs soon to prevent spammers. Here is the link: http://www.krowd.me

Hi guys, A month ago we launched our site - http://getinspired365.com/ - to HN and got some great feedback. We've attempted to take this feedback and improve the site. It's taken us a month, and we'd love to hear your thoughts. Specifically we've addressed the following: A New Interface Tags - Every bit of inspiration now has multiple tags associated with it. That means, if you are inspired by a particular area, 'Perseverance' for example, you can flick through all the inspiration relating to that area. You can find the complete set of 'Tags' in the top right hand corner of the page. You can…

Hi HN, This is the first site I've built. I know it probably won't be interesting to most of you but I think it's pretty helpful to people interested in makeup: http://www.savvyist.com I hope to make it easier for anyone who wants to get started with makeup, as it can be a really useful tool, and I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be. Hey there HN ! I'm so excited to show you the platform I built! It's a product review website that's all about community and video reviews. I wanted to create a space where people could share their personal experiences and opinions on products, so others could make informed decisions based on real-life experiences. I noticed that there were a lot of fake reviews on other platforms, and I knew that people wanted a more reliable and trustworthy source for product reviews. That's why I decided to create a website that would prioritize genuine, honest curated reviews from real people. Our…
