A spent a few days designing and programming a calculator app that I thought would be intuitive and simple. It utilizes a single gesture control as well as shake detection. It's free for iPhone: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/numbrs/id517346105?mt=8 If you download it, let me know what you think.

I'm a iOS and Mac developer and the thing that mostly bothered me when I first started learning Cocoa programming was the lack of full featured sample code. Now things have changed and more projects have been released, but I still want to do my part. I've already released Color Picker Pro for Mac: https://raw.github.com/oscardelben/Color-Picker-Pro This time I built a copy of the iPhone Calculator which (I hope) will be simple to follow for beginners: https://github.com/oscardelben/iPhoneCalculator I hope this will be useful to people who are learning Cocoa. Feedbacks are very appreciated.

I actually started it June 2011 to learn iOS, launched it in September, and have been steadily adding features and making improvements. It's something I use every day and I hope other people find it useful. Enjoy!

https://github.com/siraben/ti84-forth Hi HN! For the past year I've been getting into programming in Z80 assembly (especially for the TI-84+). More recently I've been learning about the Forth programming language and after a lot of searching online (in vain) for a Forth interpreter for the TI-84, I decided to write one myself. It's been fun demoing this to others, because it's a very unexpected use of a calculator. It's my largest project to date, and I'm interested to know what the HN community thinks, please feel free to critique my code! -- Ben

A little background: I'd been throwing this idea around in my head for a while, and finally had some free time between two quarters of school, and decided to make the site. I spent several days over the break laying out the backend for the site, and starting coding, and then the next few weekends finishing it up (and I've been making small changes since then). Where I got the idea: I originally got the idea when trying to look up coupons for some pizza places, and having a lot of trouble finding any that worked at my store since they were all regional, or weekly codes, so I just manually…

Hi HN, I am a solopreneur in the evenings and a software engineer during the day. In the past, I have created lots of calculators for my web projects and freelancing friends. These were pretty basic, but users always welcomed them. I also used currently available builders, but the problem was that they were either slow, broke on mobile devices, had nonsense page view limits, or were expensive. Some even ticked all those boxes. So I have decided to create my own, with a simple interface, and called it Creative Widgets (if it ever takes off, I plan to add more exciting stuff like charts, etc,…

I've been an early adopter of speed reading tools. I have tried to maximize my use of speed reading tools for browsing. But, I travel a lot and I couldn't find any such free app for my iPhone. So, I built one for iOS - 1000 WPM (http://1000wpm.in) I have received positive feedback from users and people are finding it useful. I just hope that you guys will find it useful too. I strongly believe that every developer is a teacher and likewise. Every time you are asked to help someone else understand your code, you’ll always be grateful to be able to share your own knowledge with others. Explain Code App is the place you can make this happen! I am eager to hear your thoughts on what I have put together so far. Would love to hear your feedback! Let me know if there are any other features you would like for this site, I’m open for ideas and would love the community feedback. Here is the link: https://www.explaincode.app/
