Hi HN! This is my pet project, written from scratch because there is so much to discover and learn in the process. The focus is on simplicity and incremental updates. Progress is slow because I do not have much spare time to work on this, but I would love to hear some feedback. Regards

Hello and happy new year! We're excited to introduce the Pyper package for concurrency & parallelism in Python. Pyper is a flexible framework for concurrent / parallel data processing, following the functional paradigm. Source code can be found on [github](https://github.com/pyper-dev/pyper) Key features: Intuitive API: Easy to learn, easy to think about. Implements clean abstractions to seamlessly unify threaded, multiprocessed, and asynchronous work. Functional Paradigm: Python functions are the building blocks of data pipelines. Let's you write clean, reusable…

I'm excited to showcase Kreuzberg! Kreuzberg is a modern Python library built from the ground up with async/await, type hints, and optimized I/O handling. It provides a unified interface for extracting text from documents (PDFs, images, office files) without external API dependencies. Key technical features: - Built with modern Python best practices (async/await, type hints, functional-first) - Optimized async I/O with anyio for multi-loop compatibility - Smart worker process pool for CPU-bound tasks (OCR, doc conversion) - Efficient batch processing with concurrent…

pypipe is a command-line tool for writing data pipelines in Python. When working with data processing in the terminal, I often find myself wanting to pass the output of commands to Python for further processing. In such cases, one can either write one-liners or create regular Python scripts and connect them through pipes. However, using pypipe makes this process more convenient and efficient.

Hi HN! We’re Adrien and Kanav. We met at our previous job, where we spent about a third of our lives combating a constant firehose of bugs. In the hope of reducing this pain for others in the future, we’re working on automating debugging. We’re currently working on a platform that ingests logs and then automatically reproduces, root causes and ultimately fixes production bugs as they happen. You can see some of our work on this here - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39528087 As we were building the root-cause phase of our automated debugger, we realized that we developed…

Hi everyone, I built PlutoPrint because I needed a simple way to generate beautiful PDFs and images directly from HTML with Python. Most of the tools I tried felt heavy, tricky to set up, or produced results that didn’t look great, so I wanted something lightweight, modern, and fast. PlutoPrint is built on top of PlutoBook’s rendering engine, which is designed for paged media, and then wrapped with a Python API that makes it easy to turn HTML or XML into crisp PDFs and PNGs. I’ve used it for things like invoices, reports, tickets, and even snapshots, and it can also integrate with Matplotlib…

Hi HN! I built pyscn for Python developers in the vibe coding era. If you're using Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT to ship Python code fast, you know the feeling: features work, tests pass, but the codebase feels... messy. Common vibe coding artifacts: • Code duplication (from copy-pasted snippets) • Dead code from quick iterations • Over-engineered solutions for simple problems • Inconsistent patterns across modules pyscn performs structural analysis: • APTED tree edit distance + LSH • Control-Flow Graph (CFG) analysis • Coupling Between Objects (CBO) • Cyclomatic Complexity Try it without…

Author here. I started seapie as a reaction to pdb's command-driven interface in 2019. I wanted a breakpoint to simply mean 'open a Python REPL here', with debugging functionality layered on top instead of replacing the REPL. `seapie.breakpoint()` opens a working `>>>` REPL at the current execution state. Any changes to variables or function definitions persist. Debugger state is exposed via built-ins (e.g. `_magic_`), and stepping/frame control/etc is handled via small `!commands`. I've been using this regularly in my own work for a few years now. Happy to answer questions or hear…

Hey HN, I tend to use printf-style debugging as my primary troubleshooting method and only resort to gdb as a last resort. While I like its ease of use printf debugging isn't without its annoyances, namely removing the print statements once you're done. I used to use trace-level logging from proper logging libraries but adding trace calls in every corner quickly gets out of control and results in an overwhelming amount of output. To scratch my own itch I created dlg - a minimal debugging library that disappears completely from production builds. Its API exposes just a single function, Printf…
