24 alternatives to Gsubpy, an interpreter for subset of Python, written in Go

Recently, I write an interpreter for subset of Python using Go. I haven't seen source code of CPython, all is just written according to my understanding of Python so there may be some unusual things. Hope you can play fun with it. Any suggestion is welcome, glad to get some feedback.

Gsubpy is an interpreter that executes a subset of Python code, built from scratch in Go. Created by an independent developer without reference to CPython's source code, it implements core Python functionality based on… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi HN! This is my pet project, written from scratch because there is so much to discover and learn in the process. The focus is on simplicity and incremental updates. Progress is slow because I do not have much spare time to work on this, but I would love to hear some feedback. Regards

Hi all! A little background: I've been working on natto.dev, a spatial environment for JavaScript. I'm really excited about new interfaces for code (leveraging metaphors we're good at, spatial reasoning, making state visible, design tools, etc). With all the buzz around PyScript, I discovered Pyodide and got it working inside natto. This Python version is a stripped down version of https://natto.dev (eg interactive outputs, multiplayer) so please check that out if this interests you. I'm excited to share this spatial environment for Python. Imagine Jupyter cells arranged on a 2D…

Hello and happy new year! We're excited to introduce the Pyper package for concurrency & parallelism in Python. Pyper is a flexible framework for concurrent / parallel data processing, following the functional paradigm. Source code can be found on [github](https://github.com/pyper-dev/pyper) Key features: Intuitive API: Easy to learn, easy to think about. Implements clean abstractions to seamlessly unify threaded, multiprocessed, and asynchronous work. Functional Paradigm: Python functions are the building blocks of data pipelines. Let's you write clean, reusable…

I want to share a really dumb, but very practical project I have packaged this summer, to perform operations on strings much faster. I was using Python to work with a multi-terabyte newline-delimited file. Reading, splitting, and shuffling it was a nightmare. So, I wrapped a trivial hardware-friendly heuristic I've been using for the last few years into a CPython library. The part I enjoyed the most is implementing SIMD behavior without SIMD instructions... Using 64-bit words to work at 8-bit granularity. Unlike conventional SIMD, the code would remain the same for ~~almost~~ any hardware.…

I built Copapy as an experiment: Can Python be used for hard real-time systems? Instead of an interpreter or JIT, Copapy builds a computation graph by tracing Python code and uses a custom copy-and-patch compiler. The result is very fast native code with no GC, no syscalls, and no memory allocations at runtime. The copy-and-patch compiler currently supports x86_64 as well as 32- and 64-bit ARM. It comes as small Python package with no other dependencies - no cross-compiler, nothing except Python. The current focus is on robotics and control systems in general. This project is early but…

Hi HN! We’re Adrien and Kanav. We met at our previous job, where we spent about a third of our lives combating a constant firehose of bugs. In the hope of reducing this pain for others in the future, we’re working on automating debugging. We’re currently working on a platform that ingests logs and then automatically reproduces, root causes and ultimately fixes production bugs as they happen. You can see some of our work on this here - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39528087 As we were building the root-cause phase of our automated debugger, we realized that we developed…

Hi HN!I built *pyproc* to let Go services call Python like a local function — *no CGO and no separate microservice*. It runs a pool of Python worker processes and talks over *Unix Domain Sockets* on the same host/pod, so you get low overhead, process isolation, and parallelism beyond the GIL. *Why this exists* * Keep your Go service, reuse Python/NumPy/pandas/PyTorch/scikit-learn. * Avoid network hops, service discovery, and ops burden of a separate Python service. *Quick try (\~5 minutes)* Go (app): ``` go get github.com/YuminosukeSato/pyproc@latest ```…

Hello all, Very excited to share this project with you all! Panoptisch scans your Python file or module to find it's imports (aka dependencies) and recursively does so for all dependencies and sub-dependencies. It then generates a dependency tree in JSON for you to parse and enforce import policies. Supply chain attacks are no joke, and this is one way to transparently analyze your dependencies to see if any malicious imports are taking place. For example, your yaml parser, nor it's sub-dependencies should import socket, or sys. Panoptisch is in early stages, with known limitations (for…

I’m sure many of you are familiar, but there’s a treacherous gap between finding (or building) a model that works in PyTorch, and getting that deployed into your application, especially in consumer-facing applications. I’ve been very interested in solving this problem with a great developer experience. Over time, I gradually realized that the highest-impact thing to have was a way to go from existing Python code to a self-contained native binary—in other words, a Python compiler. I was already pretty familiar with a successful attempt: when Apple introduced armv8 on the iPhone 5s, they…
